I have a similar but odd situation as well. I have a pair of IKEA TRÅDFRI colour changing bulbs and even one of their LED drivers. I have managed to add all of these to my Hue hub successfully and they have all shown up in Domoticz and are controllable.

After quite a bit of messing about, I have managed to get this plugin working (sort of) with a fresh-installed copy of Stretch, python 3.5 and the latest beta version of domoticz. Switching devices on and off works perfectly every time.

I've installed the requests module and downloaded the new collect_json.py script. I have also deleted the Hive plugin hardware from domoticz and re-added it, this naturally deleted my virtual thermostat and thermometer sensors. When I re-add the Hive plugin, I still get ...

I had been caught out by this once before so I did double check and yes the IP subnet is in the local networks settings not requiring authentication.

However even if this was wrong, I could see how it would prevent Domoticz from interacting with Hive but I cannot even get the separate collect_json ...

I'm guessing that this is just something odd about my system then as nobody else seems to be reporting issues.

If I run
python3 collect_json.py
I get the syntax error above

If I put parentheses around the print statement (or if i just run python collect_json.py)

I get a different error

I'm running the latest beta which is slightly ahead of the release version and the Aurora theme works just fine. Which is not to say that it definitely works with 4.97 but I'd be astonished if it doesn't.

I have three Hive bulbs, just the dimmable white ones same as you and there is just one which seems particularly susceptible to going offline for no obvious reason.

Having said that, it appears to have behaved itself for the past week or so, so possibly it was just 'one of those things ...

I've been having a lot of issues with this plugin over the last week or so, including the error message you mention. For me it seems to work for a while and then I'll notice that my scheduled lights on/off timers haven't worked. On checking the logs, I'll see things like
