[SOLVED] The use of daytime switch (sunset / sunrise)

Post by packetloss »

Please help me understand the sunset/sunrise mechanism in Domoticz.

For later (serious) use, I wanted to play first with a 'day / night time switch'. I created the switch with the name DayNighttime (picture 1) and created two notifications with it via pushover (picture 2). This morning with sunrise, I got two messages, instead of the expected one message (picture 3). Please help me understand why Domoticz thinks sun is set and sun is risen. Thank you.

You have omitted how you set the timers.

So zero minutes before sunRISE you set it to on, and zero minutes after sunRISE you turn it to off.
This is the same moment, you want to turn it off at sunSET.

Nice work. The virtual switch is a great idea. I was having issues trying to use the blocks to create an event. This makes it quite easy.

Can you offset your sunrise/sunset timer by adding or subtracting minutes?

Would be nice to have my lights cut on/off a little earlier.

That is a standard function. You can set a time offset in the On/Off timers.

Just found this thread.

If I want the the lights to turn on 30 minutes before sunset, I can set the time to 00:30?
Newbie just started with Domoticz and home automation.
