Problem: RFXCOM partially lost receiving ability

Post by eagapov »

Hello,

couple days ago i have got red temperature sensors (temp_sensors.png). I use Oregon sensors and Digimax thermostats in my project, both used Oregon protocol to communicate with RFXCOM. I think i have got some problems with RFXCOM receiver, and reboot my
Odroid. Nothing happens, temperature sensors was lost. I thikk my RFXCOM is died, and replace it with spare one. Just the same situation. I replace my power source for Odroid - just the same. In the lig-file i can see:

2016-02-05 08:34:21.392 RFXCOM: Using serial port: /dev/ttyUSB21
subtype = Interface Response
Sequence nbr = 2
response on cmnd = Get Status
Transceiver type = 433.92MHz
Firmware version = 194
Hardware version = 1.1
Undec off
X10 enabled
ARC enabled
AC enabled
HomeEasy EU enabled
Meiantech/Atlantic disabled
...

what means (in my mind :) that RFXCOM is alive. Moreover, i can send X10 commands via it to manage my heaters.

In addition, just one sensor of 12 still work:

2016-02-05 11:27:58.149 (RfxTrx Interface) Temp + Humidity (TempSensor: Bathro

and it is really alive (work_sensor.png)/ Шежы not most closest sensor to RFXCOM, i don't know why it still work.

Summing, i have lost ability to receive temerature sensors info via RFXCOM (exept one sensor (???)) via Oregon protocol and
OWL sensors info. In the same time, i can send X10 commands via the same RFXCOM.

I use Odriod-C1 as "head of system" and Domoticz v2.4389 (was 2.4111, same effect). I try to replace power supplies,
main units (i mean Odroid device), RFXCOM devices (old one, fw v.194 and new one, fw v.250), reflash fw on old one... Right now all my house
conrol completely unusable in automatic mode. Could someone help?

Did you reboot the Pi already?
It happens with my RFXcom a few times last year, reboot of the pi solved it.

I suppose there is a sensor transmitting RF noise.
Do you also have X10 MS13 sensors? If so I guess there is a MS13 with low battery.

Or else remove the battery for test from the sensor that is still operating.

Sure, i did reboot. From Windows world it's first action you should do :) But - all the same :(

Yes, i have 3 MS13 (мау be, MS10) in home. I will try to replace battarys, thank you. I have some suspicions about RF noice, but
who was able to produce it?

Yes, of course. In logging - all OK, but completely absents any marks of receiving information from thermo-sensors (except one working).

Below - example:

it's - receiving from one working sensor (2nd line from bottom)

Are you sure you got an RFXCOM and configured it right?

Your Domoticz logging shows: (RfxTrx Interface), mine shows (RFXCOM)

Edit: never mind, you can configure the name.

Did you check the logging of Domoticz when all hardware initializes? So the startup?

On January 31st at 3:05 pm, I also lost the reception of all of my 4 oregon Temp sensors.

RFXCOM continued to transmit to open roller blinds for example.

That happened for the first time since I started my domoticz system 6 months ago.

I have restarted domoticz (Setup/more options/Restart system) and it works again.

@jmleglise

Best is to use RFXmngr and to save the receive settings in the RFXtrx:
. select the protocols for receive
. click Set Mode
. click Save Settings

if for some reason the RFXtrx restarts it will use these settings.

Thank you, guys, problem found and fixed :)

As b_weijenberg mentioned, it was RF flood by one of my 3 MS13 PIR sensors. When i remove battaries from all of them, one by one, normal working was revovered and i found bad PIR sensor.
