Changing from RFXtrx433 to RFXtrx433e

Post by markk »

I'm running Domoticz on Windows with a rfxtrx433 and have just bought a rfxtrx433e to replace it. I've tried adding this the same way as I originally added the rfxtrx433 but, although it is receiving commands, it won't send any. It seems my existing switches are still linked to the rfxtrx433. Is there a process i need to follow to make the change over?
Running Domoticz on Pi3 with RFXtrx433e. LWRF power sockets and dimmer switches. Integrated my existing wirefree alarm PIRs and door contacts with domoticz. Geofencing with Pilot. Harmony Hub. Tado for Heating. Now playing with mysensors.

Did you enable the right protocols on the new RFXCOM? The devices are not linked to the RFXCOM like zwave does.

You need to select the right protocols in order to switch them. Receiving is always enabled.

Thanks for your reply.Yes, all the same protocols are enabled but I get the message below. Also, looking at the log, although it receives chimes, harmony hub signals etc, the names are missing from all the "com" switches. It seems all the "com" switches are still lnked to the old RFXcom. I think I need to change something to let the new RFXcom know they exist but I can't figure out how :?

Did you try restarting your pc? Or at the hardware section, select the rfxcom and press update. Do not remove the device or every device will be removed that uses the rfxcom.

That didn't work either :(
Enabled the new rfxcom, disabled the old one, restarted the PC, still nothing!

Every switch is connected to a hardware ID in the database. Most easy would be to edit the database and change the ID of the old rfxtrx to the new one. So every switch will work like before.

So lets say your old rfxtrx has ID 3 and your new rfxtrx has ID 6. You edit the new rfxtrx to ID 3, and the old one to 6. Afterwards you can remove the old rfxtrx in domoticz

Edit: Wait, can't you just edit the old device at the hardware tab and change the comport/USB port? You don't need to add a new hardware device, at least not in Linux.

Ha ha, brilliant. that did the trick. I didn't need to add the new hardware at all :). I removed it then did as you said. plugged the new rfxcom in, checked the com port with rfx manager, in hardware changed the com port of the old rfxcom to that of the new one and updated it. Perfect :). thanks very much for taking the time to help. Much appreciated.
