I've just uploaded some icons to Domoticz and followed the instrutions in the Wiki.
Works great except if you follow the Wiki you end up with double listing of the new icons.
You must not do the "Editing icon description file" part.

I already thought that to be redundant because it says to add this line in the file:
<filename without extention>;<iconname in interface>;<icon description>

while that was already also in the icons.txt file that you have to upload together in the ZIP-file with the icons.

Also restarting Domoticz is not necessary.

This all for V2.2326 and higher.

#2215 Custom Icons uploader Implemented

Post by Kroontje »

I've opened this topic today; http://www.domoticz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=5904 but is locked because of this topic.

I've running the latest beta version of Domoticz and I'm curious if it's possible, through the web interface, to change the icons off the switch types; dimmers, motion sensors, blinds, etc.. Gizmocuz mentioned in the topic start that it will maybe be possible in the feature, already a date?

Hi everybody, this is interesting for me, I'm using some text virtual sensors to know the state of my denon receiver, volume and source, and I want to change the icons of them, is it possible to do this or just to ON/OFF switches?

Hi,

I have created a few custom icons. Could you please add these to google drive?
- Switch without signaling colors (like red/green) for switches that do not necessarily say anything about the current state of devices/lights. I use this for wall switches that can trigger a scene or dimmer level.
- WAN status icon for anyone who uses their domoticz setup to monitor the WAN connection on the router
- SMS icon. In my case used for a dummy device that triggers a shell script that sends alerts thru sms (using a 3G dongle en gammu-smsd).

Thanks for the Hue icons.

However, when I uploaded this I only got a question mark instead of the Icon. I had to rename the filenames to lower case and change the icons.txt contents accordingly to make this work. Is that a bug?

Furthermore: I can't change the icon for an actual Philips Hue lamp, as this is a "dimmer". It is only possible to assign an icon to a "switch" via the web interface . How did you change the icon for the Hue lamp?

P.s. according to the Wiki you have to change the icon description file in /home/pi/domoticz/www/ however it also works without doing that. Is that old info?

Hi,
This is rally useful thank you. I see that people have created custom icons for various devices (cameras, motion sensors, door contacts etc) - is it possible to use this. Currently I only get the option for a custom icon for On/Off Switches... is it possible to use these on other items that appear on the switches tab as well?
Thanks,
dk

How are you adding these please? As far as I can see custom icons are only supported on switches, or have I maybe missed something :D

They seem to be alright, i only made two separate files and tested your icons in v2.2787.

No, got the same error. I use it only with one iconsset per zipfile...
