Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration

Post by page3 »

Hello all,

I'm trying to track down a problem which I suspect (but don't know for sure) is a Controlicz issue - each morning one of my living room lights is ON even though I switch it OFF the night before.

It's a LightwaveRF light switch connect to Domoticz running on a Raspberry Pi with a RFXLink.
  • The problem had never happened before I got an Echo/Controlicz
  • Controlicz Works great to control the lights throughout the day
  • There is NOTHING logged on Domoticz regarding a light ON command (which is weird!)
  • I've taken the batteries out of the LightwaveRF controller in case its gone bad.
  • I do see some incoming connections in to Domotocz overnight (see below) but that's all on the log except backups.

Code: Select all

2017-12-13 23:34:23.286 Incoming connection from: 208.113.204.247
2017-12-14 00:48:27.492 Incoming connection from: 198.143.158.180
2017-12-14 01:19:47.271 Incoming connection from: 158.85.81.121
2017-12-14 02:04:46.352 Incoming connection from: 218.28.0.150
2017-12-14 04:12:30.467 Incoming connection from: 82.221.105.6
It's baffling, especially as I'm convinced Domoticz logs everything.

Any help or pointers what to try next really appreciated!

35.176.67.167 is the only ipadress which can reach my Domoticz from the internet.
Weird I do not see that in your logs.

Some remarks :

All your listed ipadresses to me are scripts/hackers trying to get into your domoticz.

Please make sure you have a strong password and block (if possible to do so) unknown ipadresses to your domoticz.

change the lightwave switch address and make sure its unique ( my christmastree was same as my office lights :-) )
do you have a spare lightwave ? Exchange it

I am just a happy end-user of controlicz, but alomost convinced its NOT controlicz doing this.

last resort: make a lightsensor and log when at what time the light is switched on.....

Good luck... Frank

Yep, i'm not convinced Controlicz is sentient :)
Don't forget, Controlicz is 'just' a broker between Alexa (and Google) and your Domoticz - so if your Alexa isn't being asked to turn off/on a light then it's unlikely to be Controlicz.
I will look in the logs however, and see if i can find anything odd

For those with connectivity issues, have updated your Profile page in Controlicz with functionality to test connections :)

Thanks Frank (and others) for all the suggestions. I'll give them a try.

I'm pretty convinced its not Controlicz.

Unfortunately my router (Apple Airport Extreme) cannot specify source IP address, only local. Probably time to upgrade to something a bit more feature rich, although the reliability has been excellent.

I know its a bit OT, but I moved port 443 to something non-standard and much higher and have not had a single unexpected IP try to connect since.

it makes sense, a lot of bots will just try hitting standard ports

I don't understand - you've logged in to Controlicz, then clicked Update Profile and then you get an auth screen?

Does Controlicz support 'status' questions for devices? For e.g. Can I ask "Is the Bedroom Light On?"

Hi - i'm afraid that until Alexa add the query requests in for lights etc, then no. Controlicz is ready and waiting :)

what's proper device type/subtype for a door lock? it's a Yale ZigBee doorlock (as dummy switch)

this is the only thing that isn't working for me..
I want to follow up on this as the door lock doesn't work for me either. I can say turn on or turn off, but Alexa sees it as a light switch, rather than a door lock

Hi all

just started using controlicz with my setup. Was working OK for a few days, today I am getting 'device unresponsive' failures for setting my lounge thermostat. Wierdly Alexa can read it just fine, just cant change it! I can still work couple of lighting devices. Any idea what's up here?

I have tried to reset Alexa by deleting all devices and re-enabling the skill/adding devices again. No difference made.

Also getting failure to connect when I use the 'test button' on home page, but as I said Alexa is working OK for some things.

Any help appreciated! Obviously after you are done with Star Wars day today..

Are you sure about that? I was reading this https://10xnation.com/blog/voice-contro ... e-service/, they seem to be support status query.

Yep, pretty sure. What you've linked to is how to roll your own custom skill "Alexa ask the house what light is on" etc etc. All those intents need to be created and handled.
What you have with controlicz is a bona fide Alexa smart home skill, with direct interaction, however it depends on them adding functionality on their side.
The latest version provides status reporting ( everything reports it's state to controlicz), but won't be available to query until Alexa add the relevant request intents
