Hi remb0 ! Can you pleade detail that piece of hardware that you connect to your piface (brand, référence, supplier cost...).

I have the same king of water meter but i do not want to invest into the official pulse module (itron cyble V2) because it cost more than 50€.

So any detail or idea is welcome.

Yes these TCRT5000 sensors work very well (glued on my powermeter and also gasmeter).
But i bought some other type for my watermeter. (The one that is mentioned here =>http://www.domoticz.com/wiki/PiFace)
Cause i doubt this TCRT5000 sensor will work foolproof for long time when it is in a humid area under the floor where my watermeter is.

Still then... when the glass is moist the IR light will dissipate and the sensor couldn't work properly <= Did not test this so maybe just in theory.

Yes, It can work because on your 8 outputs are normally 3.9 Volt between the Input Block (0V-GND) and de Output Block (5V) You can’t use that Output port anymore for something else. I rather choose for the 5V on the Output Block.

I use a large hose clamp to fix my sensor (but my solution senses the half moon with lowcost proximity sensor: proved to be very reliable). But my fixing method could also be used to put your type of sensor at an angle. See pictures and more details in wiki http://www.domoticz.com/wiki/PiFace paragraph "Water Meter Sensor".
