Could it be the power supply? Are you using a proper power supply for the pi? I assume you use the USB cable to connect the pi to the mega, thus powered by the pi? I have seen similar strange issues that where in the end related to the power supply. Could be something, not sure, could be a lot of ...

I think you talk about 2 different things here. Authentication and encryption. Authentication is the part where you work with users and such. It will show you step by step how to get Domoticz up and running, including the proper commands and screenshots.
