I miss a "UI Read Only" checkbox for sensor style on/off open/closed switches, like a door contact. I do want do be able to set it with non-UI actions of course, like for a virtual switch. It makes no sense to me to be able to click on it to change the state, and the protected popup is annoying in ...

Confirmed, the mentioned solution here is the best one found sofar. A method using master/slave does do the open/close toggle but it is not logging the state in the switch' log.
