Hi Johnny and Pipiche,
Last week the zigate arrived at my place. Now all my Xiaomi sensors are configured and connected!!
I'm ready now to write a guide for installing and configure Zigate at Synology NAS and domoticz. Let you know when I'm done.

Yeah, I was happy about that.
Meanwhile I was added a Xiaomi temperature sensor. It works well. What made me happy again.
It's like the first steps for a baby.
Wiki needs definitely some update about proper packages and installation steps.
Thank you for the help all of you so far. I believe there will be more questions soon.
Yup I had the same feeling

Excellent news !
And indeed, @waltervl is right those 2 widgets are createdby the plugin to give you some information. We are currently on a Web Administration page for the plugin which then will be replacing those
When I was connecting the sensors this widget said not all information was recieved on time, so I'd have to connect them twice to see battery information also. Is this a problem?

Sometime it happens, so just as you did try once more.

I have finished the dutch tutorial to install and configure the Zigate on a Synology NAS at my own blog.
https://www.twoenter.nl/blog/domotica/z ... cz-zigate/
This week I'll do the translation to english and make pull request on github

Hi,
Are you using it on a USB3 port? I didn't work for me. NAS (DS218+) didn't detect Zigate. I connected through an USB 2.0 hub.

Here is the translated/updated Wiki page for Syno.
https://github.com/pipiche38/Domoticz-Z ... ogy-NAS.md
What does that mean it didn't work for me on USB3 ?
Is the syno see the Zigate or not ? In other words if you do dmesg | tty is the Zigate USB-TTL key detected. In case not this would relate to a driver/module issue between Syno and Profilic USB-TTL

I have DS216j so I have 2 USB3 ports. So yes, I use USB3 for Zigate. First I had some issues also, connecting the zigate with a hub. I disconnected everything (RFXcom, P1 smart meter and USB hub), switched off the syno, connected Zigate directly into Syno. Started Syno and saw it was recocnised in Infocenter in DSM. Then I set up domoticz and the zigate was working. Shut down syno again and took a USB extension cable, plugged it between syno and zigate. Plugged the USB hub in the second USB port of the Syno. Connected my P1 and RFXcom to the hub. Boot up the syno and it was working!
The USB hub is a not-powered version

Hi,
What do you experience regarding the working distance of Xiaomi sensors?
I have three Xiaomi temp sensor. Two works well which are a few meters away from Zigate but the third one which is upstairs in my house loses the connection all the time. It's not so far from the Zigate but on the 1st floor. Zigate is on the ground floor.
Thanks!

Indeed the power is somehow limited to go through floors.
The zigbee network expect to mesh with all main powered devices and bring a low energy network
Then you might also have interférences with WiFi 2.4ghz as they both are on the same band

What simple transmitter devices du you recommend do extend the range as a mesh network. Something I would use between the floors along the path and stairs.
Thanks!

You need main powered devices like Bulbs or plug. I would recommend bulbs like IKEA tradfri.
But you must make sure that they stay powered all the time , otherwise it will cut the routing
IKEA is also having a dedicating routing device

Better routers are Bulbs (Philips, but like have said pipiche ikea are realy good too), not better range, but better compatibility.
A new product is used in zigbee network ATM and working well :

Hello,
Do you use this as well? Is this basically an universal zigbee range extender transmitter? I looking something like this.

Nope, I don't use it, I have lot of bulbs.
And yes it's an universal zigbee router, I have never see someone using it with zigate, but it works with others solutions so no reason for it don't work with it, if you want to make beta tester ... ^^, it's not expensive, you will just loose time.
But it's a better idea to use 2 bulbs instead of this kind of router, more you will have routers, more your mesh will be strong. Zigbee use routers, not repeaters.

My consern with bulbs that I can't use them with normal switch anymore. In most cases the normal switch is more handy. If that is off with normal switch it's not possible use the smart function.

Right, replace switch is a big problem after, realy hard to keep previous one (with micro module), better way is making shunt on power, and use new zigbee switches. This solution need lot of reflexion, On my side I m using detector and schedule on domoticz.
Plug works too, but every weeks I see users with problems with them, I can't advise you a model (and avoid Osram one)

One of the advice/reading I'm getting for a good router, is to be in a high position and not close to the floor, which usaly is for plug

Yep, I have read that too, but I m not sure, the antenna in our gateway (and in this kind of device) is not directionnal, so on ground or at 1m50, I don't think there is so much difference, ATM my gateway is on the ground (for somes others tests) and I don't see difference yet.
And plug are on ground, bulb on the ceiling and sensor at 50% between both.

Hello,
Which gateway do you mean? I would prefer a dadicated gateway than a bulb. Bulb can't used with conventional switches. Maybe a switch would be better as that csn used by my children as well and I don't need my mobile all the time to switch the light.

The zigbee gateway.
But you can remove switches in a corridor and use presence detection. Or you can try a zigbee plug, a cheaper one, like the xiaomi one.
Zigbee is make to work in a meshed network, use it just for sensor is not the better solution.
