StellaZ vs Danfoss Living connect vs Komforthaus Comet ?

Post by xender »

Hello everyone,

I looking for Z-wave thermostat and I would like to have your feedback about different product I found :

- EUROTRONIC - Vanne Thermostatique Z-Wave StellaZ : http://www.eurotronic.org/en/produkte/stella-f.html
- Komforthaus - Thermostat de radiateur Comet Z-Wave : http://www.komforthaus.fr/epages/646526 ... 00-100-418
- Danfoss living connect 014G0001 : http://products.danfoss.com/productdeta ... /014g0001/

I know there are other solution but they are proprietary protocol and they need proprietary box and I don't like that very much.

Thanks !

I like the Danfoss valves. Have 6 of them and they do what they are supposed to do.
I once had a StellaZ but never got it operational.
The Smartwares valves before that didn't last that long, they definitely didn't fullfill my expectations.

I have no experience with Danfoss.
Comet Z is also EUROtronic product - it's actually next generation of StellaZ. Comparing to Danfoss it can report temperature from sensor. I have one and I;m currently experimenting with it. so I will have some feedback in couple of days.

Hi draggho,
Can you post your findings re Comet Z-wave? I have purchased one as well, and level, status, temperature and setpoints are visible in Domoticz, but I have issues with module responding to my settings. I would be very interested in your experience.

I bought 6x StellaZ a year ago, tried them with polling and they were terrible, kept going offline. My code was reading the valve open state, which would stop responding to the polling.

But I just found someone has posted the setpoint control from lua. Now I dusted them off and refitted them, I have them set to wake 240, no polling, set to comfort and send the comfort setpoint at 28 whenever I need heat in the room and send to 17 when I don't. They all work and have been 100% for the last week.

I have set my to setpoint eco in the morning and it has responded almost immediately.
So I have setup plans to change setpoints at different times during the day. Setpoints were changed within 4 minutes of the time set, but Comet has not responded to my action. That is, the setpoint for comfort has been updated according to control panel (set to 24 degrees from 18 on eco), but unfortunately, the setting has not resulted in any action on the valve for the next 30 minutes - on the display, it was still showing 18 deg. Only when I have changed it manually, the valve has been acted upon and changed to desired setting.

I still think, it might be because OpenZWave needs to wake them up in a different way (device is identified as beamable, meaning, proper wakeup call can be sent every minute, not necessarily waiting for wakeup interval, but I am no specialist here, so 1) I might be wrong, 2) I do not know, how to solve it.

If someone is using Danfoss LC-13 can they please give us the screenshot of the settings on Domoticz? Because I still have an E5 error after about 1 hour connected :-(
My time out is 1800 secondes for wake up interval.

Thanks

I tried using the GUI setpoint edit and it wasn't 100%, I use lua and it is 100% working, you can see a log entry for ....sending setpoint.

Hi

New with this :)

Where can I find the LUA script and what gateway/base are you using for the Zwave control?

Thanks

STELLAZ - using the second year

Code: Select all

local upTemp      = 30
local downTemp    = 10
...
if tempTempHum - tempTsV <= delta then
	setTemp = upTemp
elseif tempTempHum - tempTsV >= 0 then
	setTemp = downTemp
end
...
commandArray[#commandArray+1] = {['UpdateDevice'] = thermostatIdx..'|0|'..tostring(setTemp)}

Isn't 10/30 a bit overkill?
I use a function that sets the valva 1 degree lower or higher for each 0,1 temp difference. That way they're somewere half open if temp is reached.

Egregius, I didn't realise that the StellaZ accepted a setpoint with 0.1 resolution.
Thanks, I'll alter my code to do the same.

I don't use 0.1 as setpoint. For each 0.1 difference I set 1 degree plus or min.
Examples:
Setpoint room=21, room temperature is 20.8, valve is 23.

Oops, sorry! I misread your post.
Good job I haven't hacked any code yet...

I have it so

Code: Select all

local minTemp = 30
local maxTemp = 10
setTemp = (tempNeed - tempTempHum) * 10 + tempNeed

	if setTemp < minTemp then
		setTemp = minTemp
	end

	if setTemp > maxTemp then
		setTemp = maxTemp
	end

good afternoon to everyone,
sorry but i have one question.
the stella z has integrated a temperature sensor ? because the danfoss lc-13 need a external temperetur sensor and over the lc-13 i can only set the setpoint.
iam new in this world and now iam testing some danfoss lc-13 but im' not very happy with this device. i have some e5 error. so i think to test some stella z.

No it doesn't. Danfoss works fine as it is. It's got build in temperature sensor (just doesn't reporting temperature state outside).
