I've been looking for a z-wave remote and came across this topic. It's been very interesting to read and impressive how TheSpanishInq created a xml file to support the Z-Wave.me ZME_RC2 remote. Wouldn't it be an idea to submit the xml file to get included in next Domoticz releases? If it's standard included in Domoticz the remote can be added to the Hardware support list and users have an extra remote to choose from next to the Aeotec Minimote.

Greate idea! It took me quite some time to figure out why the remote didn't work anymore...an update of Domoticz: the manufacturer_specific.xml was changed and the ZME_RC2.xml was removed. Had to go through parts of the configuration again to fix it.
I moved to HomeAssistant. It was fun while it lasted!

Sorry guys that I didn't react to these posts earlier, burn out is a bitch...
Seems the config is included in the latest version off domoticz (r5052)!

Many thanks to sarakha63 for getting this done!!!

I just bought one of these as a backup in case domoticz dies and I need a domoticz-independent remote (had that happen to me the other day). Many thanks for your contributions in this thread. Managed to get the remote up and running in no time.
Since I only have a few zwave switches and many more other switches (old legrands that use a 433 based protocol), I an trying to figure out if I can use the RC2 to control these devices as well. Unfortunately, it has 7 group controls and 3 scene controls so after 3 scenes, I am done :-(.
Is there a way to reconfigure unused group buttons to activate scenes instead? I noticed the ability to change the config for the command to the control groups (e.g. from send basic set to send scene) but I am not knowledgeable enough to understand whether that would work. Has anyone tried that?
Cheers,

I haven't tried that myself as I don't have the need. But please let us know it it works ;)
It should work I think and if 't doesn't you can always change the setting back to what it was.

I've done it another way:
I did change 2 of the Groups switches to act as "Send Scene" and act upon the associated switch in Domoticz. The below only works for "Send Scene" switches.
Example:
  • Changed 13 to "Send Scene".
  • Ensure the zwave controller is added to the Group for the associated switch. In my case I added 1 to group 5 of the remote control device. (picture 1)
  • Enable "Accept new Hardware Devices"
  • Press the buttons both short and long, which will created 6 switches (See below table picture 2 for potential ID's created)
  • Go to the Devices tab and activate the Zwave IDs for the switches created. In my case for Buttons 4: (Picture 3)
    ....IDs =>Left:0292A00/02B2A00/02D2A00 Right:02A2A00/02C2A00/02E2A00
    Switch=>Left:AB4LK/AB4LLD/AB4LLU Right: AB4LK/AB4LLD/AB4LLU
  • Create a script to act on any of these switches AB4????.

ps: Maybe adding the controller to the group already fixes your issue but I haven't tried that.

Hi Jos,

Your last PS did the trick. I noticed that for the scenes, the controller was added but not for the group. Added it and now domoticz sees the key presses.

Thanks! :-)

Hello Experts,

Is there some sort of "step by step guide" on how to work with Domoticz and the ZME_RC2?

I was able to "include", so it is visible as a node on the zwave network. But after that absolutely no progress.

I have read through this post several times, but I cannot find the "golden tip".

If someone needs to see screenshots I certainly can provide those...... just have not figured out how to add those to a post. :?:

So any lead / tip / hint would be heavily appreciated :)

No progress with which goal?
Are you trying to add devices to switch when pressing buttons on the remote control or trigger scenes?
Have you found the"Groups" option when you select "Setup/Hardware" , then clicked on the Zwave dongle's setup button and then click on the "Node Management" dropdown menu and select "Groups & Network". The shown window should now show all ZWAVE devices and their available groups.
Now add devices to the appropriate groups for the remote control as indicated earlier in the thread.

Hello Jos,

It would be GREAT if i could switch on a "per device" basis, but I THINK it is only possible to switch groups and scenes.
If I could switch groups it already would be a very good start. I don't need to do a lot of different things, just to keep the wife happy :-)

As per the threat i found the "Groups and Network" portion.
There I go to the "+" on "group 2" of my remote (group 1 is the "lifeline" and 2 is the first button) and then I add the node-number of the Fibaro switch i would like to switch. It is node-number "010 (0x0a)" from my node-list.
But it "just does not "stick".

I tried "waking up" the remote before, during and after i made the change. tried a gazillion reboots of the Raspberry, tried to "wait it out".I also tried add the node-number as 10, 010, 0x0a, all with the same and consisten result......... nada.
I actually started using different browsers because by now i really don't know anymore. :x

As stated, all i can find is that this "thing" is capable of switching groups and scenes (again, i would be happy if it did) but that contradicts a bit with adding "nodes" in the "Groups and Network" menu.

ALSO, when i try to change the default behaviour of a button from the default "switch on/off and dim" to "switch on/off only" it just does not stick.
I tried this in the Domoticz properties screen, but also in "node management / control panel". Just nothing sticks.

What i ALSO tried was going to a "group" (in the scenes tab) then "edit" a group and try to add an "activation device". just getting "timeout" there.

So some of the fundamental questions:
- In the latest version of Domoticz, should it "just work" or do i need to alter .xml files like in the very beginning of this post?
- In "groups and Network" do i use the "+" off the remote and then add the node(s) I want to switch?
- If "yes", then what notation do i use? (10, 010 or 0x0a)
- Is it then required to add "and activation device" under the scene tab in Domoticz for the group i want to switch.
- Would it be possible to "debug" this contraption to actually see if "something" or "anything" is actually "happening" (irrespective of the result or success)
- are ANY of my assumptions mentioned above accurate or am i completely barking up the wrong tree here?

Hi all,

Would it be possible to use the ZME to trigger Domoticz scenes? I included my two switches and tried the different command options, but the buttons are never recognized as an 'activation trigger'.

That works fine for me. Just make sure you have the ZWAVE controller id in the group of the ZME that is related to the button and the button is set as Scene trigger.

@jvdz thnx! That works. Would it be possible to use the same button to toggle a group?

I see I missed your other lengthy post in this thread.
The ZME takes a little practice to get going but once you have the basics set, it shouldn't be an issue.
Let's take this one step at a time: What exactly is not working for you?
We can do this in Dutch via pm as I see you're from the Netherlands too.

I have exactly the same problem. Other Z-wave devices works fine. But the remote control is a problem for me.
