How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
Hello,
Here's an extract of my Zwave mesh diagram (focused on node 5):
I have the following questions:
1. Sometimes, nodes are interconnected by a wide strip (like 5 and 2, or 7 and 5,
for example), sometimes by a pointer (like 1 to 5, for example). Is there a different meaning between these two symbols ?
2. What does the little parabole (anchored to the middle of node 5) mean ?
Everything is working fine for me, but I'm just wondering ... If someone knows ...

Well, you're lucky to even see the difference in thickness

Also like to know the difference in colors etc.

Re: How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
There is no 'difference' in colors, its just a color, assigned by the graph (new node a new color, thats all)
When you 'hover' with your mouse on a node, you will see the which nodes that 'hovered node' can see
For example, if you hover over 5, you will see it can see/reach node 1, 2 and 7 (might be more, can not tell from this screenshot)
Some nodes are out of range of the controller (node 1), but can reach for example another node, that is able to reach 1, so that node will act as a repeater.
Best to go to amazon and buy the zwave book

Well, my screenshot was done after I hovered on node 5 to simplify the diagram ....

I think the thickness of the lines or the numbers is random and doesn't really mean the connection is better or worse?
But nice to read along. Maybe there are some other things to mention here which I didn't know yet.

Yet another question... Why are some sectors wider than other ones ? Does it mean anything ?
In my screenshot (see above), sectors 1 and 7 are wider than the others, f. ex.
This is also the case of the other screeshots shown in this thread.

Re: How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
It certainly suggests that it a graph is wider it has better reception. I have noticed that without changing the configuration the thickness actually can change over time. Usually after first inclusion it starts with thin lines that get bigger overnight.
So it looks like it might present something like the signal to noice ratio.
I can also imagine that there is a difference between incoming and outgoing signals?
Any programmer that can verify this by looking at the code?

Dear Gizmocuz,Best to go to amazon and buy the zwave book
Amazon shows 30+ books on Zwave when I search on that topic.... Some of them being quite expensive ...
Which one would you recommand ?

Re: How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
I don't think the network heal function does anything on the connected devices.
I moved 2 fibaro wall plugs to 2 meters and in clear sight of the controller and whatever I do they don't connect directly.
How can I update the neighbours without ex-/include?

What are the polling settings of your usb controller?Egregius wrote:I don't think the network heal function does anything on the connected devices.

And push the button on your device a few times..[ wake up ]

What has polling to do with neighbours and routing?
I moved Fibaro Wall plugs, they're always awake.

I did set my polling time shorter on my Aeon USB.Egregius wrote:What has polling to do with neighbours and routing?

And sinds that time i did not lose my devices...

Re: How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
Having the same issue over here. Nodes within 1 mtr from the controller are connecting with the repeater which is at 4 mtrs from the controller. This repeater connects to other devices etc. I would like to reroute everything too, but automatically, not making the routes myself.
FYI, the polling on my controller is set to 120. Don't know what that has to do with this, but you asked it

Re: How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
I don't lose connection, they're are just not linked directly to the controller. Not even after moving them to 2 meters and doing all sorts of commands in Domoticz and OZWCP.
I'm just wondering how I can rebuild the known neighbours without exlude and include.

It might be interesting to enable logging and attempting a heal again. It may reveal some clues as to what's going on.
I also think it's worth posting this question on the OZW forum. There may be a genuine bug with the network heal function.

Re: How to interpret the Zwave Mesh diagram ?
Hi,
I have a node that is not connected to other nodes in the diagram, but it works OK.
How is that possible?
Now long does it take for the diagram to update to correct network?
