230 volt Switch without a N

Post by Ruben »

Hello everyone (first post),

Thanks everyone for all your great post at this forum. I'm learning a lot. But now I've got a problem I cant find/fix.

I'm searching for a switch that connects the L, or disconnect the L. All switches I find you also need an N. Like the Kaku ACM-1000.

It is for switching on or off 230 volt, 20 watt (led lights). I'm using Domoticz (of course) with an old window 7 laptop and an RFXcom.

Does somebody knows if this exists? Or maybe another solution.

thanks in advance!

I don't think you are going to find one. If there is electronics inside the switch, you need a power source aka L+N

Even though I know some dimmers (like AWMD-250) only use L. They use drain current to operate.
But anything involving a relay probably won't be able to do that.

Thanks: the AWMD-250 sounds like an option.

What will happen if I use the AWMD-250 without connecting the white wires. If so I can connect the white wires tot an switch and never touch it.

How does the AWMD-250 gets its juice. It doesn's have a battery.

You can leave the white wires unconnected. Nothing will break.

The circuit gets it's power through a small drain current: A minimal electric current that keeps flowing, even when the light is switched off.
That's why this is only possible with dimmers and not with on/off switches.
