Domotics version 2510-2 don't work on Raspbian Bullseye.

Post by tomaso »

Tried to update Domoticz on my Raspbian Bullseye but update crashed. By default a backup should have been created but there is none. Trying to install current domoticz version fails because bullseye have OpenSSL 1.1.x and latest domotics require OpenSSL 3.
Is there any possibility to get the previous (2025-1) version that worked with Bullseye?

Try with docker.... You can run with the latest Domoticz version on bullseye. https://wiki.domoticz.com/Docker

And if there was no backup made you were updating from a very old version so then it would be wise to make a manual backup anyway.
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)

Hello Tomaso,
I believe that latest Domoticz version and SSL were meant to be compatible with bookworm. I hope that you have at least a recent database backup before your upgrade. I read somewhere in a response from gizmocus that you could probably run latest version of Domoticz in docker on top bullseye. You probably need to remove docker from bullseye. If docker is not to your taste then I guess that you must reinstall bookworm + Domoticz.

I have Domoticz on bookworm + mosquitto via docker + JS Zwave UI via docker. I recently tried to update my own system database and I was lucky to have an recent image of my entire system. I only lost some battery level data stored in global variables.

I strongly recommend to backup you entire system. Investing about two hours of your time will save you many hours of frustration.

If you interested in system backup, I blurbed something which might be outdated but can still give you some ideas.

I hope this helps.
The solution to the problem changes the problem!

Thanks for all suggestions.
I do have plans to update both hardware and software to latest versions. As it will take some time to achieve I beleive that installing the previous version of Domotics would be an easy quick fix to get Domoticz runnig while I prepare new hardware and software.
So I still want to get hold of the 2025-1 version.
