how should I logon

Post by manjh »

A very simple question, makes me feel silly: I have been running an old version of Domoticz, and am now in the process of migrating to a new R-OS and Domoticz.
It runs, but I now find myself locked-out... when I start Domoticz, all I see is the Dashboard and the Setup tabs. Looks like I'm not logged on, but how do I log on to this Domoticz version? I was looking for a logon button, but where is it?

Did you clear the cache or try Incognito mode?

Yes, I did clear the cache. But the problem cleared itself... not a good feeling, since it keeps me from understanding the root cause.

Surprisingly incognito mode does solve another riddle: when I click "Setup>Devices" the system tells me it is loading, but nothing happens.
In incognito mode it works OK.

Could this be related somehow?

Yes, that is also a cache issue! That is why testing with incognito mode is the best way to test as that will download all files inc all *.js includes. :-)
So likely you cleared the data cache/cookies, but the app cache still contained older version *.js includes.

I think I was celebrating too quickly... Domoticz is back to showing two tabs only: Dashboard and Setup. When I click Setup->devices, it shows the complete list, so the devices are definitely there.

Any ideas?

Yes.

But the good news: I stumbled upon the root cause.
When reading about security in the Domoticz Wiki, I noticed the system will use the first admin user, when on trusted network.
Looking at my user list, I can see three: admin, GeoFence, and Hans. Then "about" page showed that I was logged on as GeoFence. That user does not have a lot of authorizations, when I changed that the tabs showed up.

I tried to log on explicitely using my own userid, but that did not work, the system still takes the first admin user.

I guess I will have to read-up on security...

I guess you have to make 2 of the 3 admins normal users instead of admin.
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
Devices/plugins: ZigbeeforDomoticz (with Xiaomi, Ikea, Tuya devices), Nefit Easy, Midea Airco, Omnik Solar, Goodwe Solar
