Cloudfare Captcha

Post by Filip »

Since the installation of a new PC (a couple of months now) running Ubuntu 24.04/Linux, addressing the domoticz site (forum or wiki) results in Cloudfare asking for a Captcha "Verifying you are human by completing the action below ... forum.domoticz.com needs to review the security of your connection before proceeding".
Is there any configuration at the domoticz website that triggers this (annoying) behavior?
Any action that can be done to avoid?
(I am from Belgium - Internet provider is Orange Belgium - with Public IP address range 94.104.0.0/13)

Hi,

It is pure coincidence that your installation of a new PC with a new Linux OS happens at about the same time that it appears to be necessary to protect the Domoticz forum site against DDOS attacks

So there is nothing that you or others can do to avoid that way of protection. Unfortunately it is needed.

B.t.w. you should not publish your IP address, as this will attract attackers.

Regards

The /13 subnet range is quite a big number of ip addresses that are covered by that. ;)

adam1 wrote: Tuesday 04 March 2025 14:47 It looks like the Captcha is a necessary evil due to ongoing DDoS attacks on the Domoticz site. It’s not related to your new Ubuntu installation—just unfortunate timing.

There’s no way to bypass it permanently, but you could try using a different browser, enabling JavaScript fully, or even a VPN to see if that helps reduce how often you get the challenge ;)
So you registered on our forums just to echo what was already stated or are there other intentions here?
