Smart Nora

Post by FireWizard »

Hello all,

As users will have noticed problems with Nora, because of overloaded heroku app.

See: https://github.com/andrei-tatar/nora-service/issues/44

Andrei Tatar said:
Unfortunately, not much I can do.
There are way too many connections attempts for the heroku instance to handle.
You will find the (new Smart Nora) at: https://github.com/andrei-tatar/node-re ... -smartnora

Documentation: https://github.com/andrei-tatar/node-re ... /README.md

Steps to take, while converting from Nora to Smart Nora.

1. Register yourself at: https://smart-nora.eu/ and click in the right top corner on "My Nora".
It will ask you to create an account (Unless you already registerd before. In that case it will ask you for your previously selected password)
You will receive an email, which you have to confirm.

2. Install the Smart Nora nodes in Node Red, according to the Documentation

3. Install Smart Nora in your Google Home app

4. Configure the Smart Node , with the credentials, you previously used while registering your account.

5, Replace your current Nora nodes with the new Smart Nora node. (Manual operation).

Regards

Hi, all,

This afternoon I moved my 25 devices from Nora to Smart Nora without any problem. Did some testing this evening and everything worked as before and so far I noticed no issues, except that it responds much faster to speech commands then Nora sometimes did.

Use it with Lights, Thermostat, Switch and Scene nodes.

Good job Andrei and thanks.

I moved from Nora to Smart Nora, can operate a switch but voice control on Google Home does not work. I can open Google Home on my phone and operate it with the switch, but not by voice. I'm sure this is something simple, but what? Any hints?

Some questions,

Does the wording, you use, corresponds with the name of the "Switch" device, you have created?

Did you remove the "old" nora Device from your Google Home Connected services?

Can you connect a debug node to the output of the Smart Nora node? And check if you see something, both when you operate the switch on the Google Home app and when using voice control.

I use the same name. Also connected a debug node, when I operate the switch a simple "true" or "false" pops out.
When I use voice command, Google complaints "het lijkt erop dat de lampen nog niet zijn ingesteld". Nothing comes out into the debug node...

Hello Hans, @manjh

Did you already try to reconnect you account?

What does the Google Home app show. regarding Smart Nora?

Did you check your "My NORA" at https://smart-nora.eu/my-nora?

Yes, Nora is OK. I can see the devices at my-nora. Also, I can see the devices on the Nora Home on my phone, and I can control the lights by pressing the switches there. So the link GoogleHome--Nora--MQTT-NodeRed-Domoticz works OK.
It is just the speech recognition that does not work...

Hello Hans, @manjh

Is it only the speech recognition for Smart-Nora devices or also others?

I don't have other devices.
But there is an interesting bit.
My main light setting is called "licht". When I say "licht aan", it complains that the lamps have not been set.
But now I have also added my kitchen lights, and when I ask for that it says Nora cannot be reached!
Strangely enough, I can switch them from Google Home on my phone just fine...

i think you need to choose lightnames which are easy to pronounce but are not used by the system itself

it however should work if you say "zet alle lichten aan"

here is my example

i think Google listens to the name you specify in the light field, in my case i specify tuin lampen (with a space) because i have noticed that without the space it sometimes does not react that well.
77 is the id the light has in domoticz

also psecify the room the lights are in

I tried several names, no luck.
With the old version of Nora, I used a switch named "licht" and it worked, usually, until Nora was overloaded.

Hello Hans, @manjh

I do not believe, that this is a Node Red or Nora problem and of course not a Domoticz issue.

It looks more that this is a Google Home issue.

Try to check the following things:

1. "Old" Nora completely removed, including the "old" Nora config node, from Node Red.
2. "Old" Nora removed from your Google Home app.
3. Reboot or disconnect/reconnect the power from your Google Assistant devices(s)
4. Reconnect account for Smart Nora on your Google Home app.

Of course I may be wrong but other ideas do not pop-up at the moment.

Agreed, But it came up when I migrated from Nora to SmartNora, so I thought there might be more people with this problem..

Is it possible that Google Home "sees" the devices, but somehow decides that they are not switchable by voice?

I never heard of that, so I cannot answer that questions.

I "googled" a little, but did you already try the steps, described at:

Did you check using English names? I have been using Smart Nora since the first alpha release and never had such problems.

Well, after a nice day out in the sun yesterday, I decided to throw the towel and reset the Google Mini back to factory settings.
Then re-installed it, and bingo... voice control is back in working condition!
Nice result, but the bad news is the fact that I have not been able to find the root cause of this. :?
Oh well.
