These are all door and window sensors (i.e. contact type)
Thanks

Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration
Hi Nick,
Just a FYI.
Before I would ask Alexa what the status of the front door was, and she should respond "That device doesn't support that"
Now when I ask her what the status of the front is, the response is "That's not supported yet"
Thanks

Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration
Update:
Kudo's to Nick !
Nick has everything working great. All of my sensors (Motion and Contact) are seen in the Alexa routines device list and I can use the "when this happens" - >Select Device (known devices are shown) then add an "Action" i.e. have Alexa say "Front door is open".
You can also check the state of the sensors by asking Alexa something like "Is the front door open". She will respond with the current state of that sensor. (i.e. "The front door is closed")
The only change I see in Nick's instructions (FAQ page) is that the notification string should be
A|idx|$value|Motion - for a motion sensor
A|idx|$value|Contact - for a contact sensor
Also in the POST Content type in Domoticz Settings->Notifications I used
application/x-www-form-urlencoded
Nick will probably update his FAQ page accordingly in the instructions.

Ok - so anyone with a motion or contact sensor who wants to use them for routines, it looks like it now works for people in the EU.

Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration
The addition of motion and contact sensor triggers for routines in Alexa has elevated my home automation setup TENFOLD. Can't thank you enough.
I've created some virtual motion sensors in domoticz (create a virtual switch, go into it and change the type to Motion sensor). These can then also be used in Alexa routine triggering. No need for real motion sensors! For test, I create the virtual sensor, along with another virtual switch to turn the sensor on and off via an event. Works a charm!
My only implementation so far is:
- Panic button (no actual sensor involved): I've had this set up for a while now, with a Xiaomi smart switch hidden in a secret location in the house that only me, my wife and the kids know about. When this is pressed, it does a few things. It sends a Telegram message to each of our phones. The phones react to the notification using Tasker and turn the volumes up and rings etc. But the addition of the virtual sensor means that pressing the button also now turns on a virtual sensor for 5 seconds, and then I have an Alexa routine that reacts to this with an announcement. This means that all 5 Alexas in the house then speak in unison, saying 'Intruder detected, West Yorkshire Police response unit has been dispatched and will arrive shortly'. Figure this would be enough to scare away anyone breaking in. The same happens if the actual motion sensors I have are triggered when we're not at home, as well as standard notifications sent through Telegram. (As Telegram also uses the HTTP notification method, I had to start using curl instead for sending these, but it's no bother. I use Telegram as it sends messages to a channel that both my wife and I are in, so we both get all alerts in one chat channel).
I have loads of ideas for this, like an announcement inside the house through all Alexas when the doorbell is pressed (another smart switch), as well as the normal 'ding-dong'. I'll also be setting something up to notify me when I walk in from work and it's the day to put the bins out. This will use an actual motion sensor to detect I'm home and remind me before I take my shoes off (think I read this idea elsewhere).
Loads of uses for this, whether a real motion sensor is used or not. You can literally trigger it from anything that works in Domoticz or has an API - Email received etc. IFFFT can send also be integrated here via the webhooks so literally anything can be announced through Alexa.
I'm getting a water sensor soon to put behind a sink I have that is notorious for leaks, and best believe that Alexa will be screaming from the mountain tops if a leak is detected, thanks to this with virtual sensors.
Sorry for my over enthusiasm, love this kinda stuff

Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration
Can anyone tell me how quickly Alexa will start a routine after a sensor has been triggered in domoticz?
Have been using homebridge-Alexa, and unless you have the app open on the phone, the response seems very slow, so thinking of switching to Controlicz .

running domoticz 3.4834 on rpi2, with
Hue bridge / bulbs.
lightwave rf sockets, mood controlers, sensors & contacts.
Home bridge / Siri.
Ha bridge / echo Alexa.
Hard wired alarm system - setting home / away status.

Hi - it's pretty quick, response times seem to be most dependent on the Alexa Event gateway which receives the command from Controlicz. Mine is typically sub 2 seconds.

Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration
Looking into setting it up at the moment.
I have my devices in room plans, but don’t want to expose all rooms to Alexa.
Is there a way to just have a specific room for Alexa devices ( currently do this with homebridge for Siri).

As far as I know all room plans are visible to Alexa, but if you don't add the devices in rooms to Controlicz user they won't be seen in Alexa.

Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration
I'm having an issue with the routines: there're door switches in my system, included in room plans, added to controlicz user and discovered by Alexa. When a door closes or opens, the status in Alexa app changes accordingly.
I've added a routine that should be triggered when a door opens, but for some reason it's not working. When I play the routine from the app, it works as expected, but not when the switch status changes.
Any ideas?

Have you set up the notifications? You need a notification on the on action of the sensor to get it to work properly. Check out the faq on the controlicz website for how to set it up.johansson wrote:I'm having an issue with the routines: there're door switches in my system, included in room plans, added to controlicz user and discovered by Alexa. And works like a charm after setting the notifications correctly. Maybe reading the manuals would pay every now and then...
Thanks again.
