Re: Controlicz - Easy Domoticz to Alexa Integration

Post by raptorjr »

This look very cool so I thought I should try it.

It started pretty well, my devices was found. Two switches, a temperature and a thermostat.

Switches worked.

But if I tried to ask for temperature Alexa thought every time that I asked for a temperature in a city. So every time it ended with not finding the city, or giving me the forecast of some strange city in US that was close to the name om my device. Does temperature devices work with this skill?

Also problem with my thermostat. Asking to change temperature on my thermostat device. Always got the answer that my profile had several thermostat devices and that I should tell which one to use. But I only have one.

So I tried to set the Description to friendlier names, remove all from Alexa, and tried to discover again. And now Alexa can't find any devices at all. Tried several times.

Controlicz webpage still says that it can connect to my Domoticz, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Anything I could try to fix the problem?

Thank you for your help.

Hi - just PM me your email address.

Some of the issues will be with Alexa (hearing/mishearing) - but it should be finding devices

Try to send you another PM, but it's just stuck in the outbox. I can write here instead.

I tried to search for devices and now it works again =)

But still problems with getting temperature and thermostat.

Probably 9/10 times when asking for temperature, Alexa thinks I want the temperature for a location. But Alexa cant find a location with my device name.

Setting the thermostat works almost every time, even though it gets it wrong some times. But increase/decrease don't work. Every time I try Alexa says that the thermostat is not responding, but still sets it to 0 degrees. But no problem to set to a specific temperature. But no increase/decrease.

Also a question. Is it possible to have the same name for two different types of devices, and the skill is able to separate them? Like it is not possible to ask a switch for the temperature? I don't have it like that now, just wondering.

Does anyone else also have problem with getting Alexa to understand when you want the temperature of a sensor?

Anything I could try so that Alexa don’t think I’m asking for a location?

Is it a naming issue? Sometimes Alexa does completely mishear - and renaming it as something else has worked

I wont mind on the theremostat, it’s not that important. But switches and temperature I would like to work.

I have a fish pond that have two switches and one temperature. The switches is used to fill water or turn on a heater. They are called Fish Pond Water and Fish Pond Heat. They work almost every time. The times they miss it is probably because of noise or my english.

The temperature meter I have called just Fish Pond. And it almost never work. Instead I get a weather forcast for West Lake.

If it would be a naming problem the switches wouldn’t work that good?

Hi Madgeni,

I have created a Virtual switch with a dimmer function. However Alexa only recognised as a simple ON and Off switch. I was wondering if it is possible that Alexa can see it as dimmer type lamp.

I didn't. I tried the signup again and it went through so I'm not sure what I did wrong before.

I have a vacuum cleaner which I can control with a selector: clean, stop, find
is it possible to use a selector in alexa? Or should I create a virtual switch that is simpler: on/off and a script to control the selector?
