Remeha Tzerra, Etwist, OTGW, ESP12 (esp8266)

Post by CaptainSlow »

Hello,

Initial setup
Since 3 weeks I started with Domoticz and I use a raspberry pi 3 with the jessie image. I started with some wundermap (ie: with free api key) virtual devices adding 3 private weather stations...all working fine.

Remeha Tzerra, eTwist, OTGW
My main goal is add my recently installed Remeha Tzerra central heating device with eTwist thermostat.
I've ordered the Open Therm GateWay @ kiwi electronics which I'm going to solder myself (https://www.kiwi-electronics.nl/openthe ... it?lang=en
To connect the OTGW to Domoticz I want to use the same setup as this excellent post on tweakblogs.net (https://balk.tweakblogs.net/blog/13147/ ... r-domoticz

The Remeha Tzerra supports the Open Therm protocol. My main worry is where to connect the OTGW. The OTGW has 2 x 2 wire inputs (the boiler and the thermostat) so it can TAP all the traffic between them....but....
I understood from the Remeha manufacturer the traffic between the rather new eTwist and the built in gateway is NOT Open Therm!
Apparently there is a separate device inside the boiler,...they call it the gateway managing the traffic between eTwist and boiler. However there is an OT terminal in the boiler.

I'm wandering where and how to connect the OTGW in order to get this working........any idea's?

THX in advance

Willem

Hi,

You can compare the new Remeha eTwist with the Eneco Toon Thermostat for example.
They use an new own communication protocol between the Thermostat and the gateway.

So the only way to use the OTGW in this case is between the gateway and the Tzerra.

Gateway - > OTGW/thermostat
OTGW/Boiler - > Tzerra

Thx!!!...That's what I thought exactly. This gateway is in the boiler itself. Will post some pics with the connections after I sorted it.

Update: I got it all working...see pics of the setup..

Some notes to consider: The ESP-12 wifi to serial module sometime doesn't boot. The blue led keeps flashing when I power op the OTGW. When it's started it seems to work just fine. No connection drops or failures untill now

I had to drop the voltages on the gateway itself to VR=1 strangely enough. All other positions gave me a lot of error 03's

regards

Bit of a kick, but as I am gathering more information for my own automation is was wondering if in this setup you also can override room setpoint (ID100).

Are you missing some features for normal operation or can you override and read most settings>

The etwist is nice, but not very open with their device to read or write to it on ethernet. And beacuse i am missing the geofencing option i am planning to automate this with Domoticz ( and the rest of the house as well :-)
