Neo Coolcam PIR Sensor not recognised

Post by BuzzDoet »

Hi,

I run Domoticz on a Synology NAS.
My ZWave controller is an Aeotec ZW090 Z-Stick Gen5 EU.
I have several ZWave devices connected and they work fine.

Recently I bought a couple of Neo Coolcam PIR sensors. I connected two, they are connected as you can see but not recognised.
Image
Manufacter name is empty, ID and Type are both 0x0000.

I checked manufacturer_specific.xml, it has a section for Neo:

Code: Select all

<Manufacturer id="0258" name="Neo CoolCam">
and it also has lines for PIR devices:

Code: Select all

<Product type="0003" id="0083" name="Battery Powered PIR Sensor" config="shenzen_neo/nas-pd01z.xml"/>
<Product type="0003" id="1083" name="Battery Powered PIR Sensor" config="shenzen_neo/nas-pd01z.xml"/>
The device specific file (shenzen_neo/nas-pd01z.xml) is also available.

Since Manufacter name is empty, ID and Type are both 0x0000, I think the problem is the handshake between the Neo devices and my ZWave controller.

Anyone has the same problem?
Anyone with ideas?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers,

Emiel

Try to exclude the sensor, then reinclude again. Seems the inclusion wasn't successful hence the 0000.

Looking at his screenshot, he have a z-stick gen5 as a controller. So this looks to be the usual problem with these PIRs when you include them unplugging the stick (this controller have a battery to allow standalone inclusions close to devices), using it's button.

Never been successful this way. Only inclusion from domoticz (Hardware->select z-stick tuning->node management->include node, then press module button close to the controller) worked.

Thanx for your reaction LouiS22.
I forgot to mention this but I included/excluded the devices several times. The result is always the same: the devices are not recognised.

Maybe a reset of the PIR sensor might help.

You're welcome!

These modules are a bit buggy to include but after that, they are almost no-brainers: I only had an issue once in almost a year, after a Domoticz restart, on 1 module among 2.

One module was still looking OK (ie light switch on presence detection), but was not sending info to Domoticz anymore: Nothing in logs for 1 day or 2. I had to press internal switch (1 time, if I remember correctly: The action used to trigger sending module configuration to controller immediately) to restore full functionality.

The battery operated modules from Neo are bargains. Those on 220V should IMO not be used: They often fail quickly & opening them confirms their price is not worth risking setting your house on fire.

I have 8 of the Neo door/windows sensors and they all work fine (I of course had to include them from the OZW control panel inside Domoticz and not with the button on the Aeotec). They sometimes all revert to blank ID's after the Intel NUC on which I have Domoticz running is rebooted. I used to try and get them back by pressing their internal inclusion button a few times or even by full-blown excluding/re-including. However, I've discovered that overwriting the zwcfg_* file in the /domoticz/Config directory with a known-good backup of that file works just fine. Still no idea why it bombs out in the first place but this is a pretty painless workaround...
