Z-Wave and security
Hi All,
I am starting with domoticz. I bought a RPi3, RFXCom and a Z-Wave USB stick. I know the X10 protocol is not secure. It can be read/cloned by every one. But I have a lot of klik aan klik uit stuff based on X10. I see al my devices and I can control them all. Very funny to see a lot more that are not mine. (Chimes, Temps, Water tank cap., etc) So I wanted to add some 'private' devices to my domoticz. So I bought 2 multisensor 6 devices.
Those devices needed to be paired, and I did this through the secure option in domoticz. And it all works nice. But now comes the strange part. I see a LOT of z-wave devices from my neighborhood. Ones that I did not pair of course. So 2 questions: 1 how is it possible to see all those z-wave devices? second question: how do I know that other people cant see my z-wave devices?
Thanks in advance,
Nick

Re: Z-Wave and security
Hi Nick. Any zwave product you purchase likely has a lot of sub-devices for things like power metering or temp sensing. I doubt the devices you see on zwave are the neighbours stuff - far more likely it's the extra devices within your own gear.

Hi Nick,
Go to the devicelist and sort on id. Most likely you'll see something like this.
A sequence in id and idx. Those are from the same sensor/unit/switch/.....
Units can have up to 8+ parameters

Re: Z-Wave and security
I dont know. When I added the sensor I got a bunch of devices. I named them and added them to my 'in use devices' The first motionsensor had an Id range in 2xx and the second multisensor had a bunch of devices in the ID range of 3xx. Like UV, Lumen, Humidity, Temperature, Binair alarm for vibration and motion sensing. So the unknow devices list was empty. A few day later there were some unknown devices added. And now there are a lot of them (see atachment) There are power meters , tank capacity meters, switches, etc detected and I do not own a power meter, atleast not that I know of. Let alone that i paired them.

Re: Z-WLooks like you have paired multiple times and left rubbish behind.ave and security
It looks like this device is not fully or unsuccessful included. Since there are 2 identical sensors, one has moisture and the other doesn't
The alarm types are part of this senor, like burglar, motion, alarm type, sensor, lux..... in your screenshot those are 0000002 and 0000003
I expect that the power Meter is the reading of the UV sensor in W .
The tank........
Please have a look at Domoticz config folder: /home/pi/domoticz/Config/aeotec/zw100.xml, here you can find more info.
I thing though, regarding the original question, these are all yours.

Re: Z-Wave and security
No thats not true. These are the devices listed as Unused. The moisture sensor you see is, what I think, not mine. My 2 devices have moisture and those are in the other list. (See screenshot) The previous screenshot is the list I could not make sense of.

Re: Z-Wave and security
Why I know for sure I see devices that are not mine:
Z-Wave 0003 0 CO2 Sensor Air Quality Voltcraft CO-20 0 ppm
is listed. I do not own a CO2 censor. Voltcraft CO-20 is a very specific device.

Re: Z-Wave and security
Turn of your own Z-wave devices and do check the devicelist. If you still have unknown Z-wave devices then there is something strange happening (imo)

Re: Z-Wave and security
I have six Aeotec ZW100 MultiSensor 6.
Beside their "normal" devices they introduce different types of other devices. Each one has its own variety. Clocks, alarms, usage, electric, heat, you name it. In the beginning I also found some "impossible" devices. After deleting the sensor and re-adding they did not appear again. The Alarm, usage etc. are "normal".
If the beginning of the ID's is the same, the devices belong to that sensor. 100% sure. You will see that only the last two digits vary and so do the unit numbers. The ID's have different numbers of zeroes at the start.
I suppose you have been struggling with adding the sensors and there are remains of the various attempts. I also once had power meters and tank capacities. I deleted them and they did not come back again.
Suggestion: Delete the sensor; delete ALL devices belonging to that ID; restart Domoticz; Add the sensor again.
P.S. I have various other Aeotec stuff. Their software and logic are very poor!

Hi npostma,
All 00xxxx3xx and 00xxxx2xx belong together. If you won't believe it then it becomes difficult to provide help.
