Automatic turn on screen of tablet using camera
Just to let you know I have set up a simple solution it combines an app from the app store called Motion Detector by jastrzab: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... n.detector Then install a plugin called Turn Screen: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B59hfs ... sp=sharing
Install both apps.
Open the Motion Detector app and turn on "Send" at the bottom of settings. Click on motion detector (at the top) and then scroll down to "camera" and select "front".
Open the Turn Screen app. click the only button to make it active.
Open android settings, Turn off the lock screen or select "none".
Change the sleep settings to time out in the desired time.
Turn off Daydream.
Open the app (or home screen) you want to have displayed on the screen when the tablet wakes, and you're all set! Wait for the screen to go to sleep and walk by or wave at your camera and it will wake it up.

Completely depending on your settings. If you have high scanning rate, high sensitivity and bright screen it will go fast.
If you lower the sensitivity and the time between events, it will last some time longer. But you need to be connected to AC for a setup like this. I have the exact same configuration running for a couple of days already.

Re: Automatic turn on screen of tablet using camera
Hi, the link to the Turn Screen app is dead. Googeling does not give me the right results. I'm new to android, so I'm not sure how this supposed to work. I got the motion sensor workling (it's plinging
, but i don't understand how a notification should trigger a screen on action.
Help and/or explanation is highly appreciated.

Is it necessary to root the tablet?
Installed the apps but the screen won't wake up.

Re: Automatic turn on screen of tablet using camera
Bringing life to an old thread, but I can't get this to work.
I have been searching for a method of waking up android tablets and find most of the same stuff however it doesn't seem to work, trying on 2 different (although identical) samsung galaxy tab tablets.
The combination of Motion Detector + Turn Screen does not work, I get the sound notifications that it has detected motion when the screen is off, however it stays off (security settings are "none" and you can just unlock it with power or home button).
Anyone has a setup that works for this?
The idea is to have the android tablets wall mounted and auto-turn on the screen when you walk around or up to it.

Neither could I, but I managed to get it to work on my Samsung Galaxy Tab with the Fully Kiosk browser. For only €4,90 you can get the PLUS license which enables you to switch on the screen on motion detection by the front camera.

I use an older android tablet (archos 70c) with both turn screen and motion detector. Works ok for me.
