Code: Select all

sudo pip3 install broadlink
Im still getting error with 0.4 version of tar.gz file. Can you please explain steps how to do it for Dummies?
Thanks and sorry for bothering
donwload python-broadlink-master.zip from dropbox
unzip it
go to unziped folder where you find setup.py
and just enter this command .. don't forget . (dot) at the end
pip install .
this should execute setup.py and install v0.3

Zak45- Any idea what this error is?

Is Python 3.5 still necessary? The documentation mentions Python 3.4.

This is due to a new release that has been pushed to pypi, version 0.4, of broadlink. This one has compatibility problem but hope should be solved soon.
In the meantime, see post just before.

still getting an error after copying the BroadlinkRM2 folder into Plugins. Anyway, will wait for the fix. I couldn't get Discover to work so I included the IP & Mac manually.

Zak45-
go to the unzipped folder where you can find setup.py
enter this command:
pip3 install .

do not forget . (dot) at the end

Gave it a shot but I get the following even though I see setup.py in the folder.

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ pip3 install .
Directory '.' is not installable. File 'setup.py' not found.
pi@raspberrypi:~ $

strange as this work on my windows version.
do not have any linux, so not able to test but this is what i have seen on the web and that you can try :

pip install /full/path/of/your/broadlink/folder

Have seen your screenshot and just FYI: there is too much files on the plugins folder, see wiki.
You should put others files somewhere else, will be better.

@shoyboom
put the plugin on debug mode, apply update.
execute the web server.
go to domoticz log, copy and paste all informations.
FYI: the webserver is not required for import, it's here only to provide a file transfert feature, but this can be done by any other way.

Hi, I was having this exact problem too, so was very grateful for your advice! I downloaded the setup.py for 0.3 as you suggest - however, although Python tells me Broadlink is installed as a package, there's no broadlink folder under the python dist-packages folder so doing the
"sudo cp -r /usr/local/lib/python3.4/dist-packages/broadlink /usr/lib/python3.4/" fails.
Any idea why I'm not getting that folder created? Obviously my system isn't working... Thanks in advance. Jeremy.

@DrJS
hi, maybe you have mixed python version i.e; 2.7.x & 3.x ?? !!
if this is the case, pip command would install on the default one, which is probable 2.7.
you need to use pip3 if i'm not wrong, but first I would uninstall broadlink from 2.7 (pip uninstall broadlink)
