Connect doorbell
I want to connect my doorbell to de gpio (in) of my pi 3b. The momentary contact is connected in between the door entry unit (Golmar Platea) en mass. When the contact is open, the tension measured over the contact is 16,7V. What is the easiest way to get the signal of the doorbell as input?

Re: Connect doorbell
A voltage divider to get about 3V?
Re: Connect doorbell
I am trying to do something similar with my door system. But I am pretty new to trying to do this set ups without someone checking up on my work.
For me, I am having issues other than the signal. But I would try the voltage divider.

Re: Connect doorbell
Is the 17.6v ac or dc? If dc then you should be able to use a simple up/down converter to 3.3v and connect that to the gpio pin, right? I ordered these for a different use (esp power) : DD0603SB_3V3 * 5 5 STKS Auto Step-UP

Re: Connect doorbell
Thanks for the replies. I ordered a step down converter. I'll keep you guys informed.

Re: Connect doorbell
Unfortunately the step down converter is not the solution. The step down converter itself triggers the door entry system, like if the doorbell button is pushed. Any other solution?

Re: Connect doorbell
I was thinking, isn't it simply possible to achieve this with just 2 diodes?

This is the working solution:
Re: Connect doorbell
Where can I find the instructions and a diagram how to configure and connect a simple switch ( like a door bell switch without any power ) to a Raspberry PI3 and make it usefull in Domoticz.
Installation WiringPI, how to configure the pins and how to keep it in the config of the Raspberry.
Thanks

Input voltage is 8 VAC (normal doorbell), if different the resistor of 1200 Ohm must be changed
