Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
Long Time lurker, first post. Is it possible to turn "oFF" the valve by remote. Setpoint only seems to go to 5 degrees.

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
I've been using them for quite a bit now, I've not been able to turn them all the way off using Domoticz.
Also, I can't seem to use them in events. Made a post about that as well, as I might be a dufus and it could be my own fault.
Battery life seems good, I replace them once winter starts and use them all through the season.

So far, I've been thinking it's not me
I can set the valves to temperatures in the webinterface, but not in any ways in the scripts.

Not me at all.
I've written a python script that now does it for me, reads the sensor and then sets the valve to open or closed. Shame about the constant beeps however,

I've just bought some radioator valve SHS 5300 from smartwares and I was able to get the switch + the setpoint into Domoticz.Eloque wrote:Not me at all.

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to know the real room T°C from the valve (in other terms, is the t°C readable from the device ?)
If so then I would use it to start or stop the central heating system and I would avoid to use 1 additional Oregon sensor per room !

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
Hi, sorry to disappoint you but the valves are receivers, not transmitters. I have seperate thermometers in every room.. Depending on their measurements i change the setpoint of the valves. I've made a timer to check the temperature every 30 minutes.. Yes there are beeps, but not really disturbing..

Can you explain that? Do you mean you only adjust heating every 30 minutes?DutchHans wrote:I've made a timer to check the temperature every 30 minutes.

Hi Hans,
Thanks for your reply ! Than I'll buy some T°C sensor then
BTW, the beeps doesn't bother me, but the 'motor' seems really noisy when you sleep close to the radiator.
Anyway I'll try and dig deeper into those valve. From what I understood, there's a 'standalone' mode (no really interesting in our case), a manual (where setpoint is sent by domoticz and a high T° / low T° which is controlled via the switch. Is that right ?

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
I have been using 5 valves for a year now. Some observations:
- Operation works as expected. They give a beep when changing setpoint and the motor is noisy, but it works
- Temperature readings aren't really precise, so one has to adjust setpoints
- I received three out of the five new ones with scratches on the display, though they were in blister" packaging". They have a high return rate I presume and get packaged again. However, they are cheap....
- I use Lion batteries. In the bathroom I needed 2 sets of them for the whole winter (from October to April, as it was long cold this year). For the living room and conservatory I needed only one set; they get switched on and off less often. I am going to try real good (expensive) rechargeable batteries
- One has to reinstall them after replacing batteries, which means setting date and time en setting them on Manual operation. Setpoints are remembered and also the remote signals. So replacing is quite straightforward.
On the whole it is advisable if you don't want to spend a lot of money and don't mind some noise

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
Hello All,
I'm also to try to connect the Smartwares Thermostat valve to my domoticz, but I'm not able to do so. I'm able to receive the signal from the remote control in domoticz, but not able to send them. I've posted the issue in a separate topic (read it here: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=13742), since I don't want to burden this review topic.

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
A short post about the battery usage.
I started using Lithium batteries (brand Eve), but I also had one valve equipped with Panasonic Eneloop pro rechargeable batteries. Conclusion: both work for 3 months (depending a bit on the location of the the valve. Some valves have more work to do during the day, and some less and might do longer than 3 months. Charging the Eneloops after 3 months as a standard is easily done however.
The Eneloop pro batteries aren't cheap (4 EUR per battery), but they should be able to handle 500 charging cycles. That should be enough for the rest of my life

Could you share step by step instructions on how to do this?Eloque wrote: I was able to get the switch + the setpoint into Domoticz.

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
Would it be possible to reasonably control the thermostat valve using an external temp sensor via Domoticz?
Scenario I'm facing:
I would want to use the thermostat valve for my floor heating in the living room. (Officially called "naregeling vloerverwarming").
As the heating unit itself is in a closed closet and the thermostat valve has to be installed on there, it would only measure the temp in the closet. Of course I want it to respond to the temp in the living room and then adjust the valve accordingly.
Is there a way to make this work?
Can I feed external temp into the thermostat or can I adjust the valve based on fixed valve values 1 to 5 regardless of the temp it measures itself, like you normally see on thermostats?
Thanks!

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
If it isn't getting warmer than 26-27°C in that cabinet you could just set them to 28 when you want them open and on 4 if you want them closed.

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
Hello,
For a while now i have 2 of these thermostat's and they work good to me.
But the issue i have is that when i turn them off it seems like the next switch-command take 5-10 seconds to complete.
I mean when i press the "away" switch, it turn of 1 or 2 lights, then the thermostat-valve, then nothing happens for a 5-15 seconds.
After this time the other lights and other stuff goes off.
This is with both the rooms, so it is not my scripting.
Anyone else has the same issue ?
(I couldn't find anything on the forum).
I'm trying to find the files on github to which this might be related, but no luck so far
Thanks

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
Understood. But in my case I would want to be able to set it to half open, or 1/3 or 3/4, regardless of what temp the thermostat measures.Egregius wrote:If it isn't getting warmer than 26-27°C in that cabinet you could just set them to 28 when you want them open and on 4 if you want them closed.
I guess setting it to , for example, 10, it will not necessarily open 1/3rd?
I don't want it to measure anything itself, I actually only need a automatic valve, that I can set to a number of fixed settings, 1 to 5 for example. Guess I need something else then?

My valves react directly when I push a virtual button in Domoticz. I have defined a group with valves and switches and they all switch as one, instantly.cyberclwn wrote:Hello,

Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
I just switch remotely with Domoticz from day to night temperature and back, but it should be possible to choose a temperature. On this web page http://www.homewizard.nl/smartwares-dra ... kraan.html Homeward states that with the Homewizard app one can choose a random setpoint. It might take DEV-work though, to implement it in Domoticz.Bartb wrote:Understood. Re: Smartwares introduces 433 thermostat valve
It should work, setting setpoints remotely. The quote is from an earlier post in this thread. I don't use this functionality though.gizmocuz wrote:You have to use the latest beta version, and manually add the smartwares radiator (manual light/switch), choose smartwares as protocolsylvled wrote:Hello,
I received it today and ... yes, it is noisy.
Too much for me to put it in a bedroom, I will not say it is suitable for a bedroom.
Fairly tested until now, I could say remote is only to put the device in Day or Night mode (and progrmmation is on the device itself for the temperature of night or day).
Until now, I could receive the lighting 2 frame in Domoticz, but I couldn't set the remote from domoticz because there is not yet the "SmartWares" protocole as far as I know.
In rfxmgr, there is a Smartwares command, but I couldn't find the correct ID and unit code...
I will spend some time in the following days on that and will keep you informed.
Yours. Sylvain.
You then receive two sensors, a switch to turn it to day/night, and a thermostat setpoint (utility tab), that you can use to time/set the setpoint
Is it 24/7 noisy ? or only when you change the temperature? (or when it wants to change the temperature)

I'm not saying the valve is responding slowly, it responds instant when i address them. It is just the devices that are switched in the same commandarray (in LUA-script) that are having a delay.
And i think you are not using LUA-script, but the grouping-functionality. I might try that, see if that makes a difference.
Thanks.
