Housing for outdoor UV sensor ? What to use as "window" that wont block UV ?

Post by Redguy »

I would like to add a regular and a uv light sensor to my setup to measure outdoor light en uv intensity.
The sensors itself should no be too hard.. But I am struggling with the housing for the sensors.

I would like to protect the sensors from the environment bus as far as I know, even regular glass filters out a lot of the UV light.

So what to use to protect the UV sensor, but still get a good reading from the sensor ?

I have the sensor part but haven't got time/inspiration to do assembly of the actual device yet... but I was going to do tests with a box with a hole covered with microscope slide cover slip. That is very thin piece of glass that covers the specimen. My daughter has a microscope (kind of a toy) with plenty of those. Maybe it is so thin that it won't block too much UV.

Same kind of discussion here
Set1 = RPI-Zero+RFXCom433+S0PCM+Shield for BMP180/DS18B20/RS485+DDS238-1ZNs
Set2 = RPI-3A++RFLinkGTW+ESP8266s+PWS_WS7000
Common = KAKUs+3*PVLogger+PWS_TFA_Nexus
plus series of 'satellites' for dedicated interfacing, monitoring & control.
