Milight RGBWW

Post by Hesmink »

I didn't read the FAQ about milight before ordering, so I ordered a RGBWW bulb for testing.

The RGBWW protocol is being worked on, but is it totally unsupported now?

Yes, unsupported for now. The protocol used for the RGBWW bulbs is scrambled...
It will take time to sort it out.

Ok, I'll wait for it then. For now, I ordered a remote so I can at lease use them.

Or you can buy an Mi light internet station? I got multiple Mi lights in Domoticz with that, no need for an remote control.

I did a quick Aliexpress search for you:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mi-ligh ... f5ede2e78c

Works perfect for me!

Seems like a good replacement until I can control them with RFLink. I'll be ordering one, thanks.

I have the similar setup. Do you mind me asking how you control different types of bulbs? I have to switch between RGBW and White in the settings of Limitless/Milight in order to make different switches to work. Otherwise it is either RGBW or White switch works. This is extremely cumbersome so I am trying to find another way...

I think you need to add the same hardware twice, for one you use the RGB(W) setup and for the other White. Not tested as I currently have only one type of lights.

that's what I did. However, with it is either RGBW or W works - I have to manually toggle it in the settings

Ok, as mentioned I only have one type of bulbs so I just assumed it would work this way. I guess you named them differently (probably Domoticz does not allow hardware with same name) so not too many options to try here... The wifi bridges are quite cheap nowadays so one option is to by an additional bridge and use different bridges to control different types of bulbs.

The Aliexpress seller says this box will not control RGBWW bulbs.
This one would according to him: https://nl.aliexpress.com/store/product ... =200001057

That's RGBW, and not RGBWW (extra W).

Well, somehow everything solved itself.

I ordered two lamps. 1 I accidentally ordered a RGBW lamp, so I can successfully use the lamp with RFLink.
The other lamp was supposed to be a RGBWW lamp, but when the RGBWW remote could not control it, I tried it with RFLink, and low and behold, they send me the wrong lamp, a RGBW lamp.
