Manually set the alarm of a Fibaro Smoke Detector

Hi,
I have a Fibaro FGSD-002 Smoke Detector.
Is it possible to let it act as an alarm ?
(in other words, let the alarm go off manually / by scripting ?)

no, these devices are not switchable.. its functionally much like a motion sensor, it can tell you there is motion but you cant tell it there is motion.

but i want to! .. i 'm looking for a device what can make sound. replacing my door chime. smoke detector would be best because i have them everywhere so i have the sound everywhere i need it

Z-Wave chimes suck, I feel your pain.. and not really, there is a new chime out but its not fully functional last I checked.. its only working as a alarm siren, none of the other sounds seem to be functioning, yet.

personally I plan on just adding a relay to fire off alternate ringger on my wired doorbell, its got an unused chime for a back door that I think I'll steal for system alerts like the mailbox or gates opening... there is a MiMo Z-Wave device that could do this job if you want to stick with Z-Wave.. but I doubt it'll fit in your doorbell housing so wiring may still be required.

My question was triggered by this remark in the manual:

Sending the notification ALARM SENSOR REPORT (TYPE = SMOKE ALARM) to associated devices once smoke is detected. Up to five devices supporting fire alarm command may be included in this group

I interpret this, that through association, one smoke detector can trigger the alarm of associated smoke detectors.

Is there a way to use this, to fool the smoke detector, and trigger the alarm by Domoticz ?

no... but lets pretend you could.. every time the door opens you want your smoke alarms giong off? wtf.. I doubt you'll have the ability to shut them off without walking up to them and pushing the button.. most tamper and security alarms in z-wave can only be triggered on, the device will go back to a normal state on its own and no commands will help you reset the alarm.

just give it up already.. hooking a smoke alarm up to your front door is asinine.

If you need to drive a nail, try using a Hammer instead of your face.. You'll find life is easy when you use the right tool for the job... so go buy a freaking alarm/chime that you can instruct to go on/off.

Why buy a new alarm if you have several hanging around the house ?

They are not ZWave alarms, they are sensor inputs that happen have a local Alarm.. no output is exposed so your shit out of luck bro. Input != Output

Old thread, but still I have an idéa:
Maybe you could use the Excess Temperature Warning. When you want to trigger the alarm - set it to one degree celcius (not zero, which disables the function), afterwards set it back (default 55 degrees).
Question is how to make it react quickly since it normally sleeps and takes a while to react to parameter changes...

I think this is a mistake from Fibaro... That Popp avoided!
Especially from a manufacturer that is not on the siren market and would not have suffered from adding this function.

I bought a few Fibaro smoke detectors (currently discounted at 19€ in France) recently and even if I already own an Aeon siren (that is located under my garage roof, to be also heard from outside & can relay some sensors a bit far from controler), ability to trigger the smoke detectors alarm independently would have been nice.

This was not a (bad) surprise for me, indeed, as I already considered buying these a few months ago. But at it's usual price (over 50€), I was reluctant to buy single purpose modules that may have fit other requirements, especially difficult to understand here because this could have been done with no added cost! Only the discount made the deal.

Multi-purpose modules are indeed the trend on the z-wave market, even when added functions adds a few bucks (like temp monitoring for a PIR...).

I tried to order, but there is no possibility to select another country than France.  the price is so low and I would like 3 units :S
