i currently use the aeonlabs gen5 stick(number 1)
fibaro 212 dimmer module(included last number 8)
Qubino flush2 relais module(included first number 7)
when i did the 212 inclusion the qubino module was also inside for testing
the fibaro modlue is 3 meters away
The qubino is 15 meters away and outside
i always thought z-wave modules would do a continuous discovery of their neighbors but it seems they do not
first picture is after pairing the 2 modules while both inside the house
the second picture appeared after a couple of days (qubino module is 15 meters away)
the 3th picture appeared after i used the aeonlabs stick with a 3 meter USB extensioncable
now my question is:
will the neighbor connections come back by it's own or do i need to force this again?
i tried the discover neighbor feature from within domoticz but apparently this does nothing(nothing is happening while i press the button)
is the Z-wave connection picture static(eg will it only change once after reboot or will it change when it detects other connections)
does the inclusion sequence matter(eg should i first include the module which is close and second the module which is far away)
help or more insight would be apreciated
will modules assosiate neighbor automatically

Re: will modules assosiate neighbor automatically
Hi Gravityz,
I'm sorry that I'm hijacking your post but I almost have the same setup as you: a gen5 AEOTEC Z-stick for my Raspberry where domoticz is running and two Fibaro fgd-212 dimmers.
I have one as a test, nicely hooked up to my halogen lights, the led-light of the dimmer become green and I can dim and light the lights with the b-button on the dimmer but I don't know how to include them in my z-wave network. I did everything that was in the instruction manual : click three times fast on the b-button but to no avail. How did you include them in your network?
regards,
GW

Re: will modules assosiate neighbor automatically
both modules are in group one but sofar it seems they do not do any discovery
maybee they are to far away.
still strange because the aeonstick can see both modules and is the farest away so why module 8 does not see 7 is a mystery.
@gwillems
i included my dimmer the standard way.
take the aeon stick
press the button(it will blink)
press the b button(tthe small button on de 212 dimmer) 3x quickly
the led on the aenstick should blink a couple of times fast.
if this does not work first try to unpair it multiple times
take the aeonstick
press and hold the button until it turns red(i think it was red)
press b button 3 times(notice the blink on the stick)
repeat a couple of times
after that include them again(only once)
maybee they are to far away.

see my answer in the other reply.
i notice you talk about the b button and then tell us that you dimmm the halogen with it.
the B button is the small tiny button on the module
S1 is the switch you use to dimm the lights(you can use this buton to include also but i used the small button)

Re: will modules assosiate neighbor automatically
Well,
if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself
i moved module 7 back into the house and did a rediscover.
instantly i got the associations back.
now let's see if it keeps the assosiations if i movre it further away.
definately a distance issue
at least now al the other modules act as a relay

Isn't the connections between the nodes something you can achieve by pressing the 'Heal network' button in the Z-Wave controlpanel?
I am not active on this forum anymore.

Re: will modules assosiate neighbor automatically
yes it is however i tried this before and it seems that nothing was happening. also when i tried it with the modules which are close to the controller
i installed a fibaro plug in between, hoping for it to bridge the gap(which it did not)
after moving module 7 into the house it suddenly started to work on al the modules.
it seems that for association a mimimal signal level is required. after that it keeps the connections, also after moving module 7 out of the house again.
seems unlogical because i would have suspected that the controller would travel to the module closest to module 7 and from there on to module 7.
it can only do that if al the modules are aware of eachother(which they will do at a certain signal level)
