Watts Clever EW4500

Post by pudding »

Hey,

I've bought a Watts Clever EW4500 meter - https://www.wattsclever.com/gb/products/energy-monitors as I wanted an easy way of accurately measuring my energy usage (My owl CM180 was way off, always reading about 400W high at low usage levels)

Any idea if/how I can get this into Domoticz? I've tried enabling all modes on my RFxcom but cant seem to see it. How are new devices added to Domoticz? If not, whats the easiest way of using a pulse measuring monitor that Domoticz will pick up?

Thanks.

Hi Pudding,

Unfortunately you won't be able to log the data via other devices. The EW4500 was developed to meet government requirements to be installed under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) scheme. The VEET scheme has tight security and privacy requirements to ensure consumer data cannot be accessed by others. The transmitter can only be paired to the EW4500 display and there is a 15 minute window in which this can be done without requiring the transmitter to be reset.

We did later look at developing a bridge to allow consumers to access their data via an app. Unfortunately we weren't able to do this without changing the security of the existing product which would have prevented it from being installed under the VEET scheme and without a significant cost. We then looked at developing a new transmitter only with the same sensor, this could be sold without the display to communicate with the bridge. Unfortunately the cost of developing the bridge, the app and the new transmitter was going to be very high and the products were going to be very expensive to the consumer and suit only a very small market. It is unfortunate because we do get enquiries about remote monitoring but we do like to create affordable products that are easy to set up and use.

I'm sorry that I don't have better news for you.
