[479] Additional virtual thermostat mode (Off, Heat, Cool)

Post by MarkMarsh »

I found this request http://www.domoticz.com/forum/tracker.php?p=2&t=479 which is very similar to something I wanted to implement so I'm asking for any comments / requests before I have a look at coding it.

I have separate switch for each radiator in the house and temperature sensors in each room so I was going to create a virtual thermostat for each room containing the radiator switch and the temperature sensor(s) and setpoint and hysteresis. I was then going to use scene's to set the temperatures for each room.

My current system links the thermostats together so that if one thermostat fires up the boiler, any other ones where the temperature is within the hysteresis limits will also activate. This is to minimise the number of times the boiler is activated and I think I should be able to do something similar.

Adding in cooling should just be a matter of adding another switch if there is the appropriate control for each room.

I'm pretty new to Domoticz so I'd appreciate any comments on this approach (particularly ones like "you can already do that" :D ). I know it's possible to do this by writing lua code but I think it would be easier for people to set up this way.
