It's a shame it doesn't have built-in network adapter (either Ethernet or WiFi). Of course you can use USB WiFi dongles, but you also need the Micro-USB to USB-A adapter.

You need to invest at least in peripherals like PowerSupply and USB-hub, or is perhaps 1 powered USB-hub sufficient to make the device 'tick'?
2*micro-USB-connecion is not much, and already claimed for data and for power.
Any cheap USB-hub with at least one compatible micro-USB-connector for easy multiplication of the data-interface towards 'normal' USB-interfaces?
And then you have to create an interface to the outside-world.
Perhaps a clever supplier with a combi-adapter with micro-usb(s) at one side, with power, 'normal' USB & RJ45 at the other side?
Fitting a GPIO-header seems another useful addition for easy & safe interfacing.
Only then this device is ready 'to connect to the outside world'.
Conclusion: saving is significant in the price of the mainboard, but not in the peripherals.

Yep, i agree, for home automation it is useless, for other things it might be a nice peace of hardware

Got one today - given the price, one can utilise it locally in a wardrobe for, say, energy meter monitoring and publishing data in internet. Yes, the biggest blow to me is that it does not have a built-in WiFi.

i think it is possible to connect a esp8266 to pin and give possibility to have wifi (serial).

@maluko
A 'general' wifi-interface by just fitting an esp8266 to this mini-raspberry?
Perhaps you already assume it, but probably more is needed for the change you describe for the settings to the Raspberry:
either for remote access to the files on the Raspberry you have to make an Ethernet&Putty-connection to the Raspberry,
or alternatively for local-access at the Raspberry you have to connect a screen@HDMI + keyboard@USB.
[Or could your achieve the required effect by tweaking the files on the Raspberry's SD-card?]
After fitting an Ethernet-interface, why should you further fiddle with an ESP8266 for 'general' wifi?

Has anyone run domo on a zero yet? I got a few of them the other day and am trying to decide what to do with them.
