dzvents and BILRESA remote control with scroll wheel
I'm trying to get this (IKEA BILRESA) device to work with dzvents.
I use latest Domoticz with latest Zigbee2MQTT.
In Zigbee2MQTT the device is marked as supported.
Domoticz sees the device(s) (which are all created as on/off switch) and Mydevice_brightness_move_to_level is supposed to expose action_level that should represent the level of rotation of the dial (1..255).
Checking with MQTT Explorer this is indeed what MQTT receives.
eg: {"action":"brightness_move_to_level","action_group":21658,"action_level":125,"action_transition_time":0.1,"battery":97,"identify":null,"linkquality":80,"voltage":null}
But checking dzvents dumpSelection('attributes'), it does not contain any attribute that could represent action_level. It could be levelVal, level or lastLevel but those are always zero.
What am I missing here?

Are you on latest domoticz and latest zigbee2mqtt? As zigbee2mqtt changed the action templates in v2.x and it needs a recent domoticz version to support this.

Re: dzvents and BILRESA remote control with scroll wheel
Did you check in Domoticz for all devices that are attached to the zigbee node for your IKEA BILRES (in menu setup-devices)
As it could create a device for every action (I am not a zigbee2mqtt user, so not sure) and you perhaps did not notice that or did not activate that device in Domoticz.
If not then create a github issue according the intructions mentioned in wiki page https://wiki.domoticz.com/MQTT_AD_Report_Problems

Yes it is but it can be switched to Zigbee mode (as mentioned in the Zigbee2mqtt docs).

Re: dzvents and BILRESA remote control with scroll wheel
IDX 2828 seems to be the device for brightness level settings but seems to be created as an on/off device in Domoticz.

Indeed an on/off switch. But reading the comments in home assistant fora, where it seems to work fine, I don't think it is a Zigbee2MQTT issue.waltervl wrote: Tuesday 14 April 2026 17:09 IDX 2828 seems to be the device for brightness level settings but seems to be created as an on/off device in Domoticz.
Also checking MQTT server with MQTT explorer, shows the level value (action_level) is there.

Then create a github issue on MQTT-AD with the instructions as mentioned before

Re: dzvents and BILRESA remote control with scroll wheel
It has nothing to do with dzvents. The device seems to be strange (on/off switch). I would expect a dimmer kind of device.

Re: dzvents and BILRESA remote control with scroll wheel
@walter, If we are talking about the BILRESA remote control, it is indeed a on/off switch (or you can change the type), it is not a dimmer/light, it is a remote control (button)

Re: dzvents and BILRESA remote control with scroll wheel
It is a remote with also rotating knob that sends a dimmer value. You can also push on the knob and then it can act as an on/ff switch. But it definitely has a rotating knob.gizmocuz wrote: Friday 24 April 2026 7:19 @walter, If we are talking about the BILRESA remote control, it is indeed a on/off switch (or you can change the type), it is not a dimmer/light, it is a remote control (button)
