Small question for fast response like YES or NO ;)

Post by Lowrendzow »

Hi everyone,

Until now, I've been using a very old method to get my Zigbee setup working: I use Zigbee2MQTT as the coordinator, a Mosquitto broker, and a Domoticz plugin (Zigbee2MQTT) that hasn’t been supported for quite some time.

I've set up a test platform identical to my current one, and I installed the "ZigbeeForDomoticz" plugin on it — and it seems to be working really well! 🙂

My question is: this plugin doesn't seem to use MQTT, right?
I stopped and disabled the Mosquitto service, and everything still works perfectly (which gave me a nice CPU load reduction! 😄).

So, does that mean the MQTT broker is now completely useless for me?

For Zigbee4Domoticz plugin there is no need for MQTT as the plugin communicates directly with the Zigbee USB stick.

You off course can use MQTT for other integrations in the future but for now indeed not needed.
Domoticz running on Udoo X86 (on Ubuntu)
