It seems to be the way to go.
What is not working? Is the firmware of your Gen5 as required?
Edit: and is your zwaveJSUI version up to date?
And if you still fail, reply in that zwavejs topic as that is the tool to use.

What improvements have you seen with the move to gen 7?

Hi,
As a matter of fact, today I went back to my gen 5+ stcik.

Don'nt know if it is better with the gen 5+ stick.
Will let you know.

Re: migrate from Aeotec gen 5 stick to gen 7 solved
Hi JuanUil,
I'm on the road to migrate my old environment from using zwave top-hat card and jump up to either use Aeotec gen5+ or the gen7, so seeing you having issues did you sort it out?
Also, open question, what is the general recommendation with regards to Domoticz and gen7? Looking at the difference, beside being able to use future gen7 devices, it's not that I jumping up and down of joy based on the improvement of the zwave specifications.

Re: migrate from Aeotec gen 5 stick to gen 7 solved
In your link, what may make a big difference between 5 and 7 is the controller type line: Static and bridge, respectively.
If you're still with OZW, bridge mode (thus gen7 controller) is not supported.
This was an attempt by silicon labs to push their zway stack... but for zwave survivability towards zigbee, they should IMO have pulled the price tag!
Looks there is also a FW issue for 700 series, with zwave network being flooded, still not completely solved according to the warning in this page:

Re: migrate from Aeotec gen 5 stick to gen 7 solved
Main reason for asking is that I plan to move away from OZW and move over utilising MQTT instead since OZW been dropped in later Domoticz betas. I've also seen a lot of posting with firmware issues and other random issues with the Gen7, so it seems if I want to play safe then it's the Gen5+ key one should opt for. While it's a nice to have feaure the pairing button that the Gen5 have, might be usefull as well.

Re: migrate from Aeotec gen 5 stick to gen 7 solved
According to Aeotec the next firmware is almost ready to be pushed out, v7.20.2, which they're ask to test with regards to the issues which wasn't solved with v7.17.2 (Controller bug that cause the mesh to be flooded so that controller to become unresponsive). Anyone tried out v7.20.2 which is available on request from Aeotec by opening a ticket.lost wrote: ↑Thursday 07 December 2023 10:48 Looks there is also a FW issue for 700 series, with zwave network being flooded, still not completely solved according to the warning in this page:

Re: migrate from Aeotec gen 5 stick to gen 7 solved
I've been running with the new Aoetec 700 series stick for well over a month now with 25 zwave devices and so far no problem. Additionally, zwave-js-ui also now supports firmware OTA as well (upgraded to firmware v7.21.0 using the OTA) which is huge improvement compared to how how the upgrade procedure was back in December (had to download dev tools and several steps to upgrade...) and now it's a click you sitt back and enjoy a cup of coffee. So from my perspective it seems to work without any problem so far.
