I am using GPIO at some of my RPi and I observe there is a hardware entry called RPI-GPIO, but I cannot find any documentation about what it is and what it is used for. I'm just curious, since I already have a working solution using Generic Sysfs GPIO, but maybe someone can tell me what RPI-GPIO is and what it is for.
