Openweather Map does not update devices anymore

Post by jake »

Last Saturday I updated domoticz from a pre-2020 version to the latest beta. As of that time, Openweather Maps is no long updating the weather devices anymore.

A test with the API key (http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/ ... ,nl&APPID=[personal API] is successfull.
Also, the log shows normal results:

Code: Select all

2020-12-14 13:00:19.725 (Open Weather my city) General/Text (Weather Description)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.732 (Open Weather my city) Temp + Humidity + Baro (TempHumBaro)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.739 (Open Weather my city) Temp (Feel Temperature)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.748 (Open Weather my city) Wind (Wind)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.773 (Open Weather my city) UV (UV Index)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.792 (Open Weather my city) General/Visibility (Visibility)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.798 (Open Weather my city) General/Percentage (Clouds %)
2020-12-14 13:00:19.809 (Open Weather my city) Rain (Precipitation)
Disabling / enabling the hardware does not help any.
I created a 2nd Openweather Maps hardware with a neighbouring city. These devices are not created, while the logs shows that information is downloaded
Allowing new hardware is enabled in the Domoticz settings.

Did you take a look at the (new) OWM settingsscreen? Did you configure a home location for Domoticz?

The log should show the location (either city or lon/lat) that is found for the given parameters.

Can you make a screenshot and logtail?

One RPi with Pi foundation standard touch screen to display Dashticz

Looks alright?

To be certain, I checked the database integrity and that is fine. The problem is only limited to Openweather Maps not updating (and for a test, not creating) the devices, while the log seems to state it is downloading the weather information at a regular time interval.

Well, well, I think I found something there:

When I look in the devices tab, my temperature device with ID 334 is shown as:
Type: Temp + Humidity + Baro
Subtype: THB1 - BTHR918, BTHGN129

In the same device tab I see a whole row of new weather devices, one of them with a new ID 413
Type: Temp + Humidity + Baro
Subtype: Weather Station

This device is not yet used, but does show actual information

By the looks of it I should exchange devices there. How can I add the data of 413 (or continue with this new data) to the existing data 334?

Hm.. probably you had a very old OWM module running and the updates version did not ‘find’ the old existing devices so it created new ones.

Good question on how to transfer data of one device to a new(sort of similar) device. I think here on the forum this question probably has been answered before.

Hopefully you are happy with the new OWM module and its much richer and extended set of devices/measurements. Give the forecast a try. Also you can use the OWM now on the forecast screens.

Yes, I managed to keep the old information:
I added the new weather device (my id 413)
Edited the old weather device and clicked on 'replace'
Chose the only option the new weather device
The old weather device dissappeared and the data was merged in the new weather device

The forecast is still generated by darksky. The forecast option in the hardware generated way too many new devices. I turned it off again and removed the newly generated devices
