Question about a new Rain Sensor
I am trying to use my new TFA-Dostmann Drop Rain Sensor 30.3233.01. This sensor is a 433mhz rain sensor. I am trying to connect it to domoticz using RFXcom433XL with ProXL1 1043 firmware. According to the RFXcom userguide this device is supported on ProXL1 starting at 1042 firmware (Jan 2020). I hooked it up and enabled the "Hideki, TFA, Cresta, UPM" protocol. With both Domoticz, when I allowed adding devices, and RFXmngr I see no data comming in.
Question: Has somebody had any luck reading the data of the above mentioned rain sensor ?
For more info on this sensor see https://www.tfa-dostmann.de/produkt/reg ... r-30-3233/

Re: TFA-Dostmann Rain Sensor 30.3233.01
Update: The TFA rain sensor now works fine using the rtl_433 RTL-SDR receiver. I get correct Rain readings in Domoticz. In rtl_433 parameters I entered "-R 147" to select the protocol for this TFA device, 30.3233.01. The device measures rain in 0.254 mm steps. Note: The Popp Z-Rain device reports rain in 0.5 mm steps and the Oregon PCR800X wireless rain gauge reports rain in 1.0 mm steps. So for detecting light rain the TFA-Drop rain sensor works best. All 3 rain sensors work great in combination with Domoticz 2020.2 build 12227 (the currently latest beta version)

Hello,
i also have this Sensor.
where did you get the receiver rtl_433 RTL-SDR receiver?
is there any information or documentation about it?
would like to integrate the sensor into my system as well.
best regards Marco

You might want to have a look at this:
https://www.rtl-sdr.com/tag/433-mhz/
and/or this:
https://www.rtl-sdr.com/tag/rtl_433/
With rtl_433 you can send out a MQTT message to domoticz to the TFA rain device (create with hardware/custom sensor)

Re: TFA-Dostmann Rain Sensor 30.3233.01
I bought this Rain Gauge: TFA 30.3233.01
I am running Domoticz 2024.4 on a Raspberry Pi with receiver RFXcom433XL with ProXL1 1043 firmware
According the manual this receiver should support the Rain Gauge
http://www.rfxcom.com/WebRoot/StoreNL2/ ... _Guide.pdf See page 22
In Domoticz I only enabled protocol Hideki/UPM (as listed in the manual). Yet I can't catch any signal.
Do I have to buy and add another receiver?
Any help appreciated!

Thank you for your comment and advice, b_weijenberg
I contacted rfxcom.com
In het nederlands, dus dat maakt het nóg gemakkelijker.
In Dutch, so that's even more easy for me.

Re: TFA-Dostmann Rain Sensor 30.3233.01
SOLUTION
I have running Domoticz 2024.4 on a Raspberry Pi with Debian.
Transceiver RFXtrx433XL on USB
Now firmware version Pro XL1/1049
You can check your firmware version in Domoticz - Settings - Hardware --> RFXcom433 --> Description: Type
I want to read Rain Gauge 30.3233.01 TFA Dorstmann (the complete set is TFA 47.3005.01)
See: https://www.weerstationkopen.nl/regenme ... regenmeter
After spending a lot of time, I contacted RFXCOM.com
b_weijenberg helped me super well!
All I had to do is upgrade to a new firmware version for my RFXtrx433XL:
On my PC with Windows10:
1) download program RFXflash from: http://www.rfxcom.com/Downloads
2) download program RFXmngr from: http://www.rfxcom.com/Downloads
3) download ProXL1 firmware for the RFXtrx433XL
(latest version now is 1049)
4) disconnect the RFXtrx433XL from my Raspberry Pi and
connect the RFXtrx433XL to one of the USB-ports of my PC (runnning Windows)
5) Run program RFXflash Programmer
Don't use Domoticz to flash the RFXtrx433XL!
6) Flash new firmare on the RFXtrx433XL
Detailed instructions are in the manual.
You can download the manual here: http://www.rfxcom.com/Downloads
It's really easy to flash new firmware. It took me only a few minutes and I am definitely not experienced!
7) Run a test:
Domoticz also offers you change the settings of the RFXtrx433XL, but don't use Domoticz!
Run RFXmngr
Take a schreenshot of the protocols you have running.
enable UNDEX ON
enable only HIDEKI/UPM protocol
You should see now somthing like:
15-6-2024 12:47:58:447= 0B55090D521400000000CF59
Packettype = RAIN
subtype = RAIN9 - TFA 30.3233.01, TX145R
Sequence nbr = 13
ID = 5214 decimal:21012
Flip count = 207
Total rain = 52,58 mm
Signal level = 5 -80dBm
Battery = OK
All correct.
8) In RFXmngr:
enable the protocols you were running (therefore you made a screenshot in step 7)
disable UNDEX ON
9) Run again a test in RFXmngr
10) Your still should receive readable messages (no raw messages) from your Rain Gauge
11) All done: Disconnect the tranceiver from your PC and connect the tranceiver to the Raspberry PI
12) In Domoticz: Seach in Devices (dutch: Apparaten) and add your Rain Gauge
13) In Domoticz - Settings - Log you should see messages from your Rain Gaige
The lesson I have learned is: If you cannot connect, first look for a new firmware version!
Once more thank you to b_weijenberg from RFXCOM.com!
