Letterype sizing issue Laptop vs Android pad, same resolution

Post by HFman »

Probably a noob question.. but can’t find it after a whole after noon trying…

My Laptop and Android pad have the same screen resolution (1920 x 1080).
On my Laptop everything looks fine. But on android pad the letters are longer then the boxes.
I use Fully Kiosk Brower, put all zooming on 0, use desktop site, and also inside android, the letters are set as small…
What did I miss… how to get the same as my laptop ?

Please check your resolutions on https://www.screenresolution.org/ you will probably see a strange resolution on the android pad.
I have same problem with my Lenovo Tablet it is a full HD 1920x1200 display but android sets it to a lower resolution so you can read everything ok and it is not really tiny.

Under Settings - Display - fontsize and display size you can change this. By making it smaller your resolution will get higher but at my Lenovo i can't get any higher then max 1506x942px.

thanks... this clarify all :) ok.. seems there are apps which can change this (need root acces) otherwise.. make a second setup based on resolution.

Browsers will display the same page differently, depending on the device being used. E.g. PC or mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.). Each device has a "user-agent" assigned to it. The browser then reads this and displays the page accordingly.

Example user-agents for (1) Android Phone and (2) PC ...

Code: Select all

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 4.0.4; Galaxy Nexus Build/IMM76K) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.166 Mobile Safari/535.19
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/18.0.1025.45 Safari/535.19
Resolution is a factor, but only partly. For example, my laptop has a 1920x1080 display, everything looks small and crisp. But my phone has 2280x1080 display. If it was down to resolution alone, everything would look even smaller on my phone - but it doesn't. Quite the opposite. That is the user-agent.

The short story, your devices have different user-agents ;)

mm since i can "read" the resolution now i can make 2 setups... but still this is a strange way of working.
I understand the user-agent but...

With normal webpages, i can just select desktop page( e.g domoticz) and everthing stays sharp and perfectly readable ( 100 % same as at the pc).
With Dashticz this is different, box size shapes become different, text become lager compared to the box around etc etc.

I wish, there was a way to keep it seem just like a normal webpage / domoticz. Why "dashticz thinks it need to scale by itselfs...

For blocks that needs to auto scale because of more text I added the following css code for those blocks:

Code: Select all

 height: 100% !important;
Blah blah blah
