How to operate both switches separately in a double switch

Post by clansink »

Hi everyone.

I am new to Domoticz. After installing I plugged in and enabled my Aeotec Z-Wave USB stick and within a few minutes I could see all the devices on the network appearing.

One device is an Aeotec double switch. It is really two switches in one. Each switch has its own pushbutton to manually operate it. Essentialy the switches are separate and control separate things.

But the double switch is added to the network as one device and appears as one device in the list of devices. I'm sure I'm missing something because I'm still new, but how do I tell Domoticz to create a separate switch device for each of the internal switches so I can independently turn each one on/off?

I should explain that this is an existing Z-Wave network but Domoticz has found all the devices. My existing software is my own written in Python but using someone's Python Z-Wave implementation. But it is rather basic and doesn't know how to control the separate switches in a double switch. I'm looking at switching to Domoticz for more advanced Z-Wave support provided by OpenZwave.

You don't tell us what domoticz version you use so I assume latest stable (using open Zwave 1.4) In Beta the openZwave is updated to 1.6 so it might be worthwhile to test the behavior with that version.
Debian buster, bullseye on RPI-4, Intel NUC.

Hello.

I downloaded and installed the latest stable version of Domoticz just a couple of days ago but I haven't checked the version I have. There is an OpenZwave.dll file included with it but I would need to check what version it is. I really don't know much about OpenZwave to know whether it does support multiple switches.
