Hi,
I am using Domoticz v4.10717 on an RPI 3B+ with a couple of Oregon RTGR328N temp+hydro sensors through RFXcom (433). These have been working smoothely for years now. I routinely change batteries for these sensors and, since the sensors change their hardware ID's, I thus routinely follow the instructions as per Domoticz manual to retain my historica data for the device:
- add new device with a temporary name
- replace the existing device with the new device name....
- rename the resulting device back to the old device name
- delete the temporary device
Today, however I tried to do this exact same trick replacing one of the Oregon RTGR328N with an Oregon THGR221 sensor. What happens:
- new sensor shows nicely up as new hardware
- I give it a temporary device name
- I replace the original device with the temporary name..........
however the only thing that then seems to happen is that the temporary device disappears from the tab! (The original device is still around and remains operational fully unaffected.) The temporary device also disappears from both the used and unused device lists, but.......after a few minutes the sensor seems to be newly recognized by Domoticz as new hardware (thus with name "unknown").
What is going on? Am I doing something wrong here?
Hpe you guys can help me here.
Michel.

Re: Replacing temperature device not working
Hi,
Found the issue myself. So I do indeed routinely change sensors, but this time I broke my own routine: I "added" none of the earlier temporary devices to the "used devices" list before replacing the original sensor with the new temporary one. If you do add the temporary device to the "used devices" it clearly cannot be used for replacing another device that is in use. The behavior is then exactly is I drescribed below.
Do not know if this is a bug or a feature, I guess the latter.
Hope this will self help post will help somebody in the future
