Z-Wave settings gone?

Post by Plantje »

This night I woke up for some reason and noticed one of my smoke detectors beeped. Cut a long story short: in hardware --> Aeon USB (Z-Wave stick) --> Settings there were no devices at all. It was also not indicating that it was still initializing.
Restarted Domoticz Service
Restarted the entire server (several times)
Nothing….

Then at some point it showed as working again… but still initializing. Ok, seems solved…
A while later I heard one of the smoke detectors beep again and upon checking, I saw the whole list of Z-Wave devices all showing as name "Unknown"
What may be going on here?
I am going to do another reboot now.

I believe at some point, I set my network to heal every night. However, I cannot find that setting anymore. Where is it?

Edit: One reboot further and still everything is unknown…
I can still control my devices since the devices are controlled by name of the device and the devices are connected to the Z-Wave ID rather than the Z-Wave name. However, all my settings (such as report interval, on time of multi sensor, polling setting etc) are gone.

I think I have set the database to backup automatically somewhere. What would be the best way to restore all of this? Or do I just need to go through everything again and update all 29 nodes again?

I would have tried restoring a backup. It should be located under /../domoticz/backups/

And you can edit you posts ;)

Yes, I know... think I was lazy and therefore added new replies :)

I have reset the names again. Any idea on what might have happened here?

It will not help you, but I had the same kind of issue. One morning of July, I lost all my zwave peripherals.
After many reboot, and nightly autorepair (that I never used before) I made most of them live again. I lost "only" 4 periperals (on 13).
I removed and added them again.

After dowloading zwave config, I saw that xml config was corrupted for those peripherals. Issue seems to come from Zstick controller itself.

My config at that moment was:
- Raspberry pi2 / raspbian
- zwave controller : AEON Labs DSA02203 Z-Stick S2
- Domoticz: I did not store the exact hash. I used a beta release of beginning of April

I plan to change Zwave controller for a newer one to avoid this issue in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm still not really sure as to what happened, but in the end it wasn't that bad.

There are not that many alternative Z-Wave controllers. https://buildyoursmarthome.co/reviews/b ... usb-stick/

Today my charging post for my new car got installed. Had to remove my Domoticz server for a while. And again all settings were gone.
A lot of reboots, but nothing helped
Put the latest backup back... didn't work :(
Then I thought I need to check the COM port, because I had put the stick in a different USB. That turned out to be the issue!

By the way: very happy with the standard hourly/daily backups!
