Getting domoticz database from corrupted SD?

Post by superkris »

So today i unplugged my raspberry without proper shutdown and domoticz doesnt run anymore. The SD does seem to work in windows, but there are a few partitions that seems broken. Maybe this is normal, im not a expert in this. When i place the SD card into my other Rpi that is attached to a TV, i see the expected boot screen, but somewhere at starting home automation or something it stops. It never goes to prompt.

Stupid as i am, the most recent image i have is from march 2016, so that kinds sucks. That is much to old.

Is there a way to recover the database file and import it into a fresh install?

On a side note... when the Rpi is booted with the old image, my whole network goes down. Any thoughts about this?

I'm fine with electronics, but know little about linux, so please be detaild :D

I really hope you guys can help!

Can you still see the domoticz directory (with the file domoticz.db) when you insert your SD card in another system (windows or linux)?
Debian buster, bullseye on RPI-4, Intel NUC.

I'm not sure... I dont know where to look to be honest. If i insert the SD into my windows PC i get approx 5 drives. Some of them cant be read by Windows, and windows wants to format them. Other drives are named recovery and boot. I can recall seeing a domoticz folder.

When i create a new SD with the 2016 image, it handles the same way, so i just kinda assumed its just windows not handeling the Linux system very well.

The SD still boots for some time, so i'm guessing it inst fully corrupted.

So domoticz.db in the ...domotics dir is the file i need?

I'm currently at work so i cant check, but if you have any tips for getting to the files, please let me know :)

yes domoticz.db is the most important one.
I think the default location is /home/pi/domoticz but you could have chosen a different location when doing the initial setup.
Depending on your setup, you might want some of the other files in that directory and the dirs below (zwave stuff and local plugins / scripts) So try and recover as much as possible from this directorytree.
There are quite some SD recovery tools available if you search for it on the internet.
