GE 45600 handheld as secondary controller?

Post by ltgcc »

Greets,

I have domoticz running (latest stable) on an odroid C2. I want to use an old GE45600 zwave handheld controller as a -secondary- controller so that I can do things like all-lights-on, all-lights-off, bedroom-light-on-off from my bed (like I could with X10). I've found a couple of links on the 45600 which I've attached below for future (and for others) to reference. The smartthings reference looks like it will be particularly useful. I also see a bunch of info on how to make domoticz a -secondary- controller, but very little on how to make another controller (e.g. 45600) a secondary controller to domoticz. Is there a page or reference somewhere on 'how to link another controller as secondary to domoticz for dummies'?

thanks in advance.

Update: Progress. Of a sort.

About 3 this morning in the middle of a fuddled half-awake haze I asked myself "why not just do the Aeon zstick attachment sequence and see if the 45600 attaches? Instead of assuming it's going to be complicated"

So this morning I did, and it did.

Took the zstick out of the odroid (shutdown -h the odroid first, of course).
I placed the zstick and the 45600 about a meter apart.
Pressed the button on the zstick for 5 seconds. the zstick goes into associate mode.
Press 'setup 967' on the 45600.
lots of lights flashing, all looks good.
put zstick back in odroid, turned on odroid, connect to domoticz:8080

It took a bit to figure out what the 45600 connected as, but, on mine at least:

Node ID 07 (0x07)
Name Unknown
Description
Manufacturer
ID 0x0000
Type 0x0000
Last Seen 2018-03-10 13:41:49
Poll No

which all looks completely generic...anyway.

No response from anything pushing any buttons on the 45600.
Generate a 'Heal Node'.
Go get coffee.
Come back, now each of the buttons 1-9 turns on all the zwave lights in the house when the 'on' position on the toggle is pressed, and each of the buttons 1-9 turns all the lights in the house 'off' when the 'off' position on the toggle is pressed.

So it's progress. And so far simpler than I expected. I'll play more and update here.
