Home security: Developing custom software solution to integrate into proprietary existing hardware

Post by MikeZA »

Hi Ladies an Gents

I am new to this so can you please be easy on me? :)

I am in the process of developing an app (with back-end architecture) to link up to home security monitoring hardware (Kerui W18 is potentially my choice). I could not find an app that meets my requirements. It is early in the process though so am also exploring existing applications and hardware. My questions may therefore touch on more than one category, but may be interrelated. I am interested in linking up my software to the Kerui hardware (or a similar system (price and functionality) of a competitor):

My questions are as follows:
1 - Jamming is pretty commonly used where i live. Does anyone know if Kerui has anti-jamming or jamming detection functionality? Also, does Kerui support monitoring device (door, PIR sensors, etc ) encryption, for example to detect replays, etc?
2- I am still in the process of asking Kerui if they will allow third party apps to control their hardware. Does anyone have any experience on this, and perhaps a way to approach them? Or will they say no? Does anyone know of a vendor that allows 3rd party apps on their hardware?
3 - Is there any available source code i can use for security monitoring (including video) apps and back-end servers?

Apologies for the loaded and multilayered question.

Thank you so much in advance.
Mike
