I moved from France to US what about my devices?

Post by NightOowl »

Hi there.

I recently moved from France to US and brought all my smart devices with me. Everything is running on the EU frequency, I have a Aeon Labs gen5 controller on a synology. Can I had US devices on the controller?

The legal aspect of using EU frequencies in US is another topic I am aware of. I am living in a place where it will never be a problem.

Thanks for your answer.

I'm not sure whether a second zwave stick is supported. I guess adding a raspberey pi with a zwave stick and configuring it as a slave pi will work

The Stick itself is only capable of handling one frequency.

I remember something about one open zwave instance per machine, so it wouldnt possible to use a second Stick.
You could create a slave domoticz machine with an us Stick and add it to the Master System.
Migration done, hello Home Assistant.

Thank you. So I guess my only option to extend my installation is to go for a gateway like Xiaomi or buy additional equipment in Europe...

Thank you again !

I can plug in two z-wave controllers in a pi and they both work. Both get assigned their own usb serial port :-)

Cheapest (at least that I know of) z-wave plus US frequency usb controller costs 30 bucks.

(although the aeotec one have that nice button for inclusion of nodes, but costs 15 bucks more)
