Horstmann C-Stat 11-ZW + Aeon Labs Aeotec Gen 5 Z-Wave

I recently bought the above items to control my central heating system. However I can't include the C-Stat with the z-wave stick.
Who can help me?

What have you tried?
How far apart are they?
Mine work well - in Domoticz I go to Setup->Hardware->Zwave Setup->Node management->Include node
Then on the C-stat - Setup->Setup Z wave->Learn.
The Domoticz 'Including ZWave Node' popup then shows the new node. Hopefully.

Thanks for the quick respond.
My C-stat and z-wave stick are about 50 cm apart.
I did exactly what you advised, but inclusion failed.
When I looked In the open zwave control panel no sign of the stick was visible.
I tried to remove the z-wave (OpenZWave USB) in Domoticz my Domoticz freezed and I had to 'bake' a new image.
So I fear that something els is wrong.

An update:
In the past I added the Z-stick Gen5 port: dev/ttyUSB0 and now I used the port: dev/ttyACM0
When I switch to Node Management / Control Panel I now see the Z-stick with node ID 1* LB
My Horstmann C-Stat is connected to the ASR-ZW
When I include the C-stat the C-Stat looses connection with the ASR and the little network sign on the left top of the screen has gone
And in Domticz control panel the C-Stat is sleeping.
So what next?
