Use HD44780 40x4 lcd hooked up directly to Rpi domoticz server

Hi guys,

Just switched to domoticz and exploring my options..

I have all kinds of sensors monitoring power usage etc around the house (via 1-wire and i2c) that iam going to use with domoticz..

To display some of its data, i would like to hookup the blue HD44780 4x40 character lcd's i have laying round..

Looked into rs232 or i2c for that but those display adapters cant handle the 4x40 which has 2 ce lines, so ithink the easiest way is to hook it up to the Rpi gpio lines directly (using a 3.3<>5V level converter).

Only thing i found so far is a small 2x16 lcd hookup to a mysensors node.


Anyone using HD44780 lcd's to display domoticz data?

And if so, how?
